Misspelling names or someone calling out your name incorrectly is a big turn off for most. But the least we can do is either ignore it and move on or we can call out that person and rectify their error. But if it is someone like Daniel Negreanu, he definitely has other options.
DNegs is currently at the Wynn Las Vegas for the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship, and a similar incident happened to him. He was given a VIP card to Day 1A of the WPT $15M GTD World Championship event. But this VIP card misspelt the six-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner’s name in the strangest way possible. ‘Daniel Neidgrano,’ it read.
As expected, Negreanu did not waste a second and quickly shared a picture of the VIP card on his Twitter account. “This guy must be new. Never seen one quite this butchered 😂Daniel Niedgrano,” (sic) he wrote. The GGPoker Ambassador took the incident in a sporting way and laughed it off.
This guy must be new.
Never seen one quite this butchered 😂

Naturally, the tweet received a lot of replies from his fans and followers, wherein they took the incident as an opportunity to share their personal experiences while many other users pulled out the Starbucks joke. The coffee house chain, that writes the name of their customer on the coffee cups, is also known for messing up with the names.

At least your first name doesn’t get butchered weekly at Starbucks…”glen, client, clent, clit, klint,” etc

Sounds like a good way to get out of paying off staking. "I'm sorry, you staked Daniel Negreanu. It was Daniel Niedgrano who cashed." pic.twitter.com/ncCAUUZNmD

But the fun doesn’t end there. The best thing about this banter was that even top poker news giants, like PokerNews and Hendon Mob, stepped in to give the funny situation their sarcastic touch.

The poker news site, which is covering the WPT event live, also shared a series of pictures of the Canadian pro with the controversial VIP card.

On the other hand, Hendon Mob was quick to change Negreanu’s wrong spelling on his page on their website.

We are not sure if the person printing the card did not know ‘KidPoker’ or it was just a typing error. We’d personally like to believe the latter because who in the poker universe doesn’t know of Negreanu? Whatever is the reason for this error, it did give Negreanu and the Twitterati a good laugh, and that’s all that matters, isn’t it?
