The World Poker Tour (WPT) recently ended, which saw a massive number of players turning out. The series was proof of how big the poker tournament scene has grown in the country. The number of poker tournaments and the number of players is rising at a rapid rate. Needless to say, the scene is all set to grow bigger day by day. 

One of the emerging tournament players in the country is Vinayak Bajaj. We contacted Bajaj to understand what he thinks about the country’s top multi-table tournaments (MTT) players.

Vinayak Bajaj is one of the emerging players in the country who has shown some incredible results over the past couple of years.The player has predominantly made a name for himself in the online poker scene with numerous online titles to his name. Millionaire, Godfather, India Online Poker Championship (IOPC), Final Table Series (FTS), India Turbo Master (ITM) and Legends are just some of the titles this pro has to flaunt on his poker resume.

We asked Bajaj who are his favourite poker MTT players in the country and here’s what he shared. 

Sriharsha Doddapaneni

Bajaj’s first pick is Sriharsha Doddapaneni. Bajaj thinks Doddapaneni is the most experienced player that the country currently has and that he has a great understanding of the game. Bajaj also reveals that “It’s always very tough to play against him.”

Well, the name Sriharsha Doddapaneni needs no introduction. The pro has proved himself time and again. Most of the players we spoke to have picked Doddapaneni as their top pick. One of the most notable achievements of his career was shipping the High Roller and Super High Roller titles in the same edition of IOPC in January 2021.

Next, he picks Vishal Bajaj. The IIT Kharagpur graduate thinks, “He has a great command on the theory aspect of the game, probably the best in the country. He is very consistent as well.”

Vishal Bajaj has also created a name for himself by being consistent on online platforms. He has some prestigious online titles such as IOPC, WPT, FTS and more. Over the past year, he has also made appearances at live poker events.

Finally, he picks Ashish Munot. Talking about Munot, Bajaj says, “He is also very experienced, especially in bigger tournaments. I also think he plays final tables really well.”

Like Doddapaneni, Munot, too, needs no introduction. Munot has consistently and gradually climbed up to the top to be known as one of the best poker players in India today. Apart from his numerous online titles, some of his most noteworthy live titles include WPT India 2019 Main Event, APPT Manila, and WPT Prime Cambodia.
