Venkatesh Mukundan wins Spartan Mega Stack

Spartan Poker’s Tuesday feature tournament Mega Stack INR 12 Lakhs GTD began yesterday at 7.30 pm. The tournament is played out every Tuesday on the platform and unfailingly attracts the top talents of the community, as well as the newcomers who are looking to make it big.

Yesterday’s tournament began at 7.30 pm and was in the books by 2.37 am today morning, after the field of 355 entries (including 54 re-entries and 113 re-buys) made it in the mix. The top 31 places were paid with the min-cash being INR 10,560.

Emerging on the top of the field was Venkatesh Mukundan aka ‘Borissss’ who grabbed the Mega Stack title on Spartan and the INR 2,53,800 first-place cash prize. He beat one of April 5 For 5 winners Wilson Yomso ‘RohiniSharma’ in heads-up.

Entering heads-up, Mukundan was with a good chip lead of over 2:1. On the flop of 8c Qh 2s, Mukundan made two pairs against RohiniSharma’s 2d Js. The turn of Jd saw the eventual winner shoving all in and receiving a call by RohiiSharma. The river of 7c didn’t matter since Mukundan shipped the tournament with Queens and Twos over Jacks and Twos of his opponent. The runner-up settled for INR 1,70,880 cash prize.

Mukundan, though not purely new to the scene, is an up and coming player. He shipped SSS #19 Hi-Fi last month for a cool INR 1,22,000 cash prize, beating seasoned pro Zarvan Tumboli in heads-up. Mukundan has earned an even better amount last night and will be looking to carry this trend forward in coming months.

Some of the regs to finish in the money include Bunty Batra aka ‘hitesh bhai’ (6^th – INR 58,680), Kavish Kukreja aka ‘Dietchips’ (7^th – INR 42,840), Nishaanth S aka ‘Soona Paana’ (10^th – INR 21,960), Tathagata Sengupta aka ‘vegancannibal’ (21^st – INR 12,960), Faiz Alam aka ‘DrStrange’ (30^th – INR 10,560), and others.
