Two Indians in APT Finale Championships Event Day 2

After the successful finish of the (Asian Poker Tour) APT Finale Manila Main Event, the following day of the festival saw another big attraction, the PHP 10 million GTD APT Championships Event. The event began on Dec 3 and will coronate its champion on the final day of the festival, Dec 6.

The APT Finale Manila Championships Event saw 54 runners sitting at the tables to test their hand. But the registration will continue to go on till today, and a lot more players are expected to take part. Buy-in for the tournament is fixed at PHP 165,000.

First day of the Championships was a gradual affair, with the 33 survivors emerging amongst a field of 54. South Korea’s Eunho Kwon became the chip leader at the end of the day, bagging 198,200 chips.

Kwon has cashed out thrice in recorded live events, the second biggest being his spectacular 1st place finish in the APL Vietnam High Roller just last month. He took home upwards of $30K in first place money. The biggest win of his career was way back in 2011, finishing 4th at the APT Manila Main Event.

The lead he has in this event is still not enough to make his win certain, but the player is looking straight at the Championship title like a predator looking straight at his prey. Closing the day in 2nd position was USA’s Rex Clinkscales with 175,800 chips. Matt Ericson finished 3rd in chip counts with 154,700 chips.

Poker pro and India’s first WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant also made an appearance in the event and finished 5th in chip counts with 147,400 chips. Another poker veteran and Baadshah Gaming co-founder Madhav Gupta came 7th in chip counts with 126,400 chips finishing the day. Both have sizeable chip stacks and will be looking to compete in the Championships Event Day 2.

Other known names in the mix include Lim Yohwan at 26thCao Ngoc Anh at 12thIori Yogo at 22ndTakao Shimizu at 8thBobby Zhang at 11th and Phachara Wongwichit at 16th.

There are 2,700,000 total chips in play with an average stack of 81,818. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for more tournament updates and general poker news from around the world.
