Triton Poker Series Jeju 2024: Stephen Chidwick And Mikita Badziakouski Win Top Titles


The Triton Poker Series Jeju 2024, concluded on a high note. The concluding days saw pros like Stephen Chidwick And Mikita Badziakouski emerge victorious. The super high roller series kicked off on 5th and ran till 21st March 2024. Some of the most sought-after high stakes tourneys like Turbo Bounty Quattro, GGMillions, Mystery Bounty, and Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) Bounty Quattro among others were included in the schedule. And then there were Short Deck tournaments, one of which was a $100K buy-in. Two well-known pros from the international poker circuit shipped these Short Deck events and registered their names in poker history. Let us take a look.

The British poker player battled the likes of Phil Ivey, Seth Davies, and Isaac Haxton on the final table to ultimately ship the tournament and take home a pay cheque of $265,000. Tan Xuan from China finished runner-up and added a sum of $191,000 to his bankroll. Poker legend, Ivey, took the 7th spot for $44,000. American pro Isaac Haxton claimed the 5th spot for $71,500. Davies wrapped up his journey in the 6th position for $54,500. The $20K buy-in saw 42 total entries (17 re-entries) with the final prize pool settling at $840,000.

In the final hand of the Short Deck Turbo event, Chidwick’s rival raised from the button position and the English pro retaliated with a shove. The Chinese player called and was ahead with AKo. But Chidwick’s ATo paired the board with a Ten. This victory also gave the UK-based player his second Triton Poker Series title and his name is now in the two-time champions book.

The winner of the Short Deck Turbo event stated. “My family gives me incredible support,” “If I have a bad day, good day, they’re there to give me a hug, cheer me up or celebrate with me. It makes a big difference to my mood and motivation.”

The Belarusian player shipped this heavy-duty $100K Short Deck tournament and took home a prize money worth $1,153,000. This Triton Poker Series regular fought poker veteran Paul Phua in heads-up. The second place finisher had a payday of $800,000. The event had 34 total entries (16 re-entries). The final prize pool was $3,400,000. This event saw final table contenders like Sam Greenwood, 10-time Triton Poker Series winner, Jason Koon and Winfred Yu.

Badziakouski was leading three-to-one i.e. 128 antes to 42. But Phua needed just one double to even the score. Phua’s pocket queens toppled Badziakouski’s which brought him closer to his rival’s stack. Five hands later, Phua was leading after betting on every street and getting the Belarusian to fold.

Badziakouski was headstrong. He got dealt Cowboys and trashed Phua’s . The high stakes pro took charge again of the chip lead. Finally, Badziakouski’s did not allow Phua’s to survive on a board of   . Mikita Badziakouski is now a five-time Triton Poker Series Champion.

The Triton five-time said, “Back in Cyprus (in 2022), I got second twice and I wasn’t really caring about winning another one. But then I went to London and Monte Carlo and didn’t get close. And by that time I’ve really been wanting to win one. I’m really happy.”
