Timothy Adams takes down Triton Jeju 2019 Main Event

Yes, you read that right. This time, it’s not Belarus’ Mikita Badziakouski who has won the Main Event at a Triton Poker high-stakes series, having won it twice in the past. This time, it’s Canada’s Timothy Adams who has walked away with all glory. He was leading the Final Table of 6 and rode that chip lead all the way to the trophy.

The Main Event was obviously going to be the biggest highlight of the series and some of the world’s best poker pros were in action, each coughing up the gigantic HKD 2 Million (~$255k) buy-in to take a shot at the title. Eventually, it was a field of 48 entries that was generated, putting up a prize pool of HKD 90,204,000, wherein only the top 6 players would be paid out with a minimum cash prize of HKD 6,300,000.

Eventually, it was North America that dominated the FT, with four American players and two Canadian players on the table. From them, USA’s Bryn Kenney and Adams faced off in heads-up and they decided to agree on an ICM deal, each locking up about $3 million in prize money, with around $500k more and the trophy to go to the winner.

Talking about the victory, Adams said, “I’ve been playing against Bryn since I was 19 or something, and now I’m 32. We’ve tons of experience, he’s an amazing player. To win, it feels amazing. I obviously had to run very, very good, as I think most people have to, to win a poker tournament. I’m thrilled that it’s me.”

Total pay-outs:

  1. Timothy Adams – HKD 27,760,500 (~$3.54 million)
  2. Bryn Kenney – HKD 24,039,500
  3. Dan Smith – HKD 13,600,000
  4. Peter Jetten – HKD 10,390,000
  5. David Peters – HKD 8,150,000
  6. Isaac Haxton – HKD 6,300,000

It wasn’t surprising that these two players agreed on a deal, given the massive prizes at stake. Eventually, Adams took home an outstanding prize of HKD 27,760,500 (~INR 24.7 Crore), taking his total live earnings past $14 million.
