The biggest poker wins in WSOP history


There are multiple instances of hitting the jackpot in terms of cash prizes in poker. But these tournaments have shocked us with the winning amount. Here is a countdown to the biggest wins in poker tournaments ever, as we build up to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2019.

6. 2009 WSOP

This tournament was held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Vegas, Nevada. The event had 52 bracelet rounds and ended with a $10000 No- Limit Hold’ em round for the finale. The total prize pool for the event was $61,043,600 and the grand prize of $ 8547012 was won by Joe Cada from The USA

5. 2012 WSOP

This event was the first one to be live telecasted, but with a 5-minute delay. The eventwas covered with by ESPN. The finals occurred on July 11, 2011 between Pius Heinz and Martin Staszko. Pius won hands down and took home the jackpot prize of$8.7 Million

4. 2017 WSOP

This event saw a record 7221 players battle it out for the top spot. The event started inMay and went on till the end of July. The finale was played by Scott Blumstein and Dan Ott. Scott proved to be a the stronger contender among the two of them and managed to win 8.1 Million dollars

3. 2010 WSOP

The 2010 tournament saw the return of the November nine concept.This was the same year that saw the transformation of the HORSE format to the eight game tournaments. This event was a star studded event with many celebrities like Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Ray Romano. The final was played between Jonathan Duhamel

2. 2018 WSOP

The stakes were quite high at this year’s WSOP. There were a record 78 bracelet events at the tournament. The main event was even broadcasted on ESPN and Poker central. The tournament drew more than 7000 players and the event finale between Tony Miles and John Cynn set the record for the highest number of hands played during the WSOP ever. John clenched the jackpot prize of $8.8 Million while Tony Miles scored a cool $5 Million.

1. 2006 WSOP

The 2006 World Series of Poker saw the biggest jackpot prize of all time. This Texas hold’emstyle game had the jackpot prize of $12 Million dollars. The 2006 version also had the much anticipated HORSE tournament with a $50000 buy-in.The winner of it all was Jamie Gold from the USA, who beat Phil Hellmuth by a very slight margin making this event a total nail biter.
