Sunday Roundup: Nayak wins Sunday SuperStack on Spartan Poker


It was a tremendous night across the leading online felts and the seats were already taken away by the poker enthusiasts of the country. An exciting weekend followed with cards and chips in the air that ended with a smashing Sunday. Moreover, Spartan Poker crowned December edition’s Millionaire Lite INR 50 Lakhs GTD ultimate titleholder! So, let’s have a quick look at Sunday majors…

Millionaire Lite

Spartan Poker’s Spartan Value Series (SVS) kicked off on 18 December and yesterday crowned the champion with the title of Millionaire Lite. It was ‘fishlover’ who mastered the second edition of the same that came with a guarantee of INR 50 Lakhs after railing out ‘DevilHorn’ in heads-up.

However, Day 1C chip leader ‘abhinavgargg’ lead the final players to the showdown after topping a field of 1,289 entries and building the largest stack of 2,47,509. Following his heels was Day 1B chip leader and a prominent face in the circuit Anant Purohit aka ‘Pro’ bagging 2,54,547.

After arduous hours into the competition, the event reached the final hand in level 34. Pre-flop action saw ‘DevilHorn’ shoving holding pocket Twos and a call from ‘fishlover’ having pocket Queens. Both players drew pair of Five from the board 5d 7c 3s 5h 8c, and that was it, ‘fishlover’ flipped his higher two pair of QQ55 over his opponent’s 5522, pushing him in the runner-up position and further boosting his poker bankroll.

Sunday SuperStack

Apart from the Millionaire Lite, the other biggest featured tournament on Spartan Poker was Sunday SuperStack INR 40 lakhs GTD which managed to attract a massive number of 759 entries. The buy-in to this tournament was INR 5,500 and the top 71 places ended up in the money. However, sealing the biggest chunk of the prize pool was online crusher Jyoti Ranjan Nayak aka ‘joey114114’ who defeated Avadh Shah aka ‘cateyes’ in heads-up to add another valuable victory in his poker career.

The Sunday flagship tournament BSS SuperStack INR 25 Lakhs on PokerBaazi had a buy-in of INR 5,500, luring 530 players to register. The guarantee shoots up to become INR 27.85 Lakhs which was well-shared among the top 63 places, each receiving a min-cash. However, taking away the lion’s share from the same was online reg Anmol Mehta aka ‘anzzzzz’ who captured the first-place title after beating ‘Chubbycho’ in heads-up for INR 5.4 Lakhs. The anonymous runner-up settled for INR 3.7 Lakhs.

Dominating a field of 594 players was Abhishek Gubba aka ‘messi010010’ to triumph Big Slick INR 15 Lakhs on Adda52. Each player entered paying INR 2,500 buy-in and the prize pool was later shared among the top 62 places. Gubba locked the winner’s prize of INR 2.7 Lakhs after railing out ‘achhi’ in heads-up.

The biggest guaranteed tournament on Adda52 last night was Mega Suits INR 25 Lakhs GTD which had a buy-in of INR 5,500, attracting a total number of 557 players. A well-known circuit grinder Sagar Choudhury aka ‘alwaysnutz’ seized the winner’s prize money after the players settled for a heads-up deal. With Choudhury having the larger stack pushes ‘riverbet1’ in second position and securing INR 5.2 Lakhs.

PokerStars hosted a bounty tournament yesterday night, Sunday Special Progressive KO INR 15 Lakhs GTD which gave way to 259 players who registered for a buy-in of INR 5,500. Arpan Majhi aka ‘Vasusenaa’ topped the list after both players struck a heads-up deal. And Majhi accumulating the larger stack was made the official winner of the tournament sending ‘cresthorology’ in the runner-up position INR 1.62 Lakhs. Eventually, the anonymous runner-up also settled for INR 1.20 Lakhs.

It was a leading online grinder Ujjwal Narwal to ship last night’s Sunday Special INR 7.5 Lakhs on PokerStars. Narwal who plays under the username ‘CougarHunter69’ fired four bullets and eliminated Sam Anand aka ‘TheRealLokimon’ in heads-up for INR 1.36 Lakhs. However, Anand ended up in the second position for INR 98,602.

The Dragon

A handful of 95 players entered last night’s The Dragon INR 10 Lakhs GTD hosted by 9stacks. Outlasting the field was Akash Shekhar aka ‘K9_A’ beating ‘are_yaar’ in heads-up for INR 2,90,000. While the runner-up settled for INR 2,02,000.
