Sumit Asrani, Muskan Sethi progress to EPT National Day 2

Just a few days and plenty of high-value tournaments to be played, so the organizers decided to host multiple starting flights at once at the latest European Poker Tour (EPT) stop at Casino Barcelona. The biggest tournament running currently is the €1,100 EPT National and we are now done with all four starting flights.

Yesterday, we reported Joey Saha headlining Day 1A of this tournament, finishing as one of the top five chip leaders. Later in the day, it was Raman Gujral who was in the news, progressing from Day 1B of the same tournament. Later in the day, Days 1C and 1D were also played out, and a couple of more Indian players have found a bag to Day 2 of the EPT National.

Day 1C attracted a staggering field of 1,872 entries which eventually remained the largest of the four starting flights. Eventually it was Frenchman Jonathan Therme who ended the day with a comfortable chip lead, holding a stack of 757,000 chips. However, the day wasn’t great for Indian players.

The likes of Kartik Ved, Siddhanth Kapoor, Rakesh Lalwani, Ankit Ahuja, and others were in the field, but they couldn’t catch a bag at the end of the day. 281 players progressed from Day 1C and among them were some big names like Kalidou Sow (400k), 3-time bracelet winner Adrian Mateos (190k), Michael Soyza (162k), Kitty Kuo (145k), and others.

Moving on to Day 1D, it was a better outing for our Indian pros that were among the field of 964 players that participated. The total field went up to 4,682 players, which surpassed all previous EPT Barcelona records and 195 players from 1D eventually bagged their chips to move on to Day 2.

Once again, it was a French player in the lead as Romain Vial bagged 700,000 in chips and two Indians also progressed in Sumit Asrani (109k) and PokerStars Pro Muskan Sethi (90k). Rakesh Lalwani took another go at the EPT National but was unsuccessful once again.

A total of 702 players and five Indian players will resume today at the Casino Barcelona in Day 2 of the EPT National and you can keep watching GutshotMagazine.com for more updates on the same.
