Day 7 of the EPT Barcelona Main Event wrapped with Stephen Song shipping the Main Event, taking home a whopping €1,290,386. It all went down at Casino Barcelona, with nine players at the final table, all vying for the prize pot and the 20th Anniversary Golden Shard Trophy. While Song stood first in line, Fabiano Kovalski of Brazil was the first casualty at the final table, taking home €139,750.
Stephen Song shipped the ME on Day 7. The American poker player’s journey to the top of the ME list was fraught with dangers and risks all through his run. On the final day, Song played well enough to double his chip stack twice, get out of the danger zone, and be the chip leader for a while. For the end, Song was on a heads-up play with Andrew Hulme.
The two agreed to a deal, playing for the trophy. Song’s Ace and seven cards trumped Hulme’s Pocket 8s. The American poker player has added another feat to his list. He had earlier won a WSOP bracelet in 2022. This is now his career-best live score. His total live earnings to date are $7,967,683. For Song, the only way his poker journey can now go is up.

The Final Table had several other noteworthy events. While Song shipped the trophy, Rania Nasreddine had a good time at the felts of the EPT Main Event. For her efforts, she took home €518,000 in prize money. This is a formidable number and also her best live cash as yet. She is also one of the rare female poker players who has made the final table at two EPT Main Events.
Nasreddine was a successful third-place finisher at Monte Carlo earlier this year, taking home $473,639 at Event #18 € 4,850 + 450 No Limit Hold’em—EPT Monte-Carlo Main Event, which was held at the Sporting Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo, from 28 April to 4 May 2024. With the other dates set for Cyprus, it remains to be seen what achievements poker players will put in their kitty there.
