The poker players always look forward to the monthly series on Spartan Poker and the popular Spartan Super Series (SSS) always attracts the mid/high stakes players. Yesterday was Day 8 and Friday flagship tourneys – TGIF INR 15L GTD and The Elite INR 50L GTD were the main attraction. With several winners being crowned, here is a complete summary of SSS Day 8…
The event began at 12 pm and the first tournament managed to pull out 393 entries for a buy-in as low as INR 550. Only the top 31 walked out of the competition with a paycheck, securing at least INR 1,760. In level 40, the tournament ended with a 5-way deal which saw ‘notoriouskonvict1’ claiming the title and the first-place cash prize.
The second tournament of the day kicked off at 2 pm attracting a field of 459 entries for a buy-in of INR 880. This led to the collection of a bigger prize pool of INR 3.67 Lakhs and ultimately it was Gaurav Sharma aka ‘Gaush’ to seize the winner’s title and the first-place prize money after defeating ‘SharkAAI’ in heads-up with his 9933.
At 4 pm, the poker fanatics assembled to pay INR 2,200 and enter the third tournament of the day. A total of 284 hopefuls took their seats with only 23 ending up with min-cash. After hours of intense grinding, it was ‘waghoneblood$’ who outlasted ‘ingloriousbasterds’ in heads-up with his fullhouse over two pairs and thus boosted his poker bankroll!
Online grinder Sagar Choudhury aka ‘strangeplay’ took down SSS Event# #54 to add a valuable title to his poker CV. With a buy-in of INR 1,100 a total number of 225 enthusiast joined the field and only 23 players earned a min-cash of INR 3K at least. Choudhury defeated ‘TheSuperSingh’ in heads-up and the latter eventually banked the second-place payout.
Gaurav Gupta aka ‘VantaBlack’ rode past the field to grab the TGIF title on Spartan Poker. The tournament guarantee was crushed to become INR 19.27 Lakh after pulling out a massive field of 1,285 entries for a buy-in of INR 1,650. In level 52, the tournament ended after the players settled for a heads-up deal which saw Gupta’s opponent ‘Spotzero’ in the runner-up position.
Friday flagship event The Elite had a buy-in of INR 11,000 which saw 506 runners joining the field. The advertised guarantee was smashed to create INR 50.60 Lakhs whose largest chunk was seized by online reg Anuj Yadav aka ‘tittooTauji’ after settling for a heads-up deal with his opponent Sumit Sapra aka ‘Sands Myth’. Eventually, Sapra banked the second place payout.
Monster Stack was the last event on SSS Day 8 which garnered a field of 428 runners who pounced on the field to collect a prize pool of INR 6.42 Lakh. The top 39 players secured a min-cash of INR 4K. After long hours of battling, circuit grinder Priyank Kothari aka ‘Piku’ who eliminated ‘parzival74’ in heads-up with his 66 and King kicker and claimed the first-place cash prize.
