SSS Day 2: Gaurav Sood takes down Head-Hunter

The Spartan Super Series (SSS) Gold Edition is on in full swing and if there was one person we knew would win a title or two on Spartan Poker, it was Gaurav Sood. The player has been on a fantastic run in recent times, winning tournaments across all online poker platforms. Yesterday, he bagged another title and a healthy bankroll addition.

SSS Event #14 Head-Hunter INR 12 Lakh GTD was one of the high-value tournaments hosted yesterday and the bounty tournament attracted a decent participation from across the country. With a buy-in of INR 5,500, 344 total entries took part and the guarantee was smashed with a new prize pool of INR 13.76 being generated, along with INR 3.44 Lakh in the bounty prize pool.

Beginning at 7:30pm last evening, it was the sixth SSS tournament of the day and 31 players walked away with tournament pay-outs, the min-cash being INR 12,108. This was apart from bounty prizes earned from each elimination. After a grind of 6 hours and 5 minutes, playing as ‘mozzie17’ on Spartan Poker, Sood was crowned champion again.

He beat quite a few big names on the night, bagging the Head-Hunter title and INR 3,66,195 in prize money (INR 2.91L from tournament prize pool + 13 bounties). In heads-up, he beat another player who is one of the best in online poker in India, Arjanveer Chadha aka ‘bazzingaa’. Chadha took away INR 1,95,942 in addition to winnings from ten bounties.

Head-Hunter is one of the newer tournament offerings on Spartan and it was just over a week back that Sood shipped another new offering on Spartan called Saturday Social. He has been doing some serious bankroll building in recent months and will surely start thinking about international poker trips as well now.

Talking about last night’s victory, Sood said, “I’m really pumped after shipping my first big buy-in bounty tournament. I decided to not take any high variance moves through the final 2-3 tables as I thought I had an edge. When there were 6 people left on the Final Table, I had a 3:1 chip lead and it was easy after that. Really happy and looking forward to working harder and booking more wins.”
