Srinivas Balasubramanian leads PLO GIANT Event

All the attention in Las Vegas has been drawn towards the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event, which kicked off earlier today and over 900 entries were recorded on Day 1A. However, other events are also taking place simultaneously and one such event is Event #11: $365 PLO GIANT.

This event began precisely one month back, and each day of the tournament was played once a week, with the low buy-in attracting a huge field of 3,250 entries. After five days of starting flights at the end of Day 2, we are now down to the final 9 survivors, who bagged their chips to return tomorrow for the final day of play.

Indian origin American poker player Srinivas Balasubramanian will come out tomorrow with the largest chip stack (18,325,000) while 3-time WSOP Players Championship winner Michael Mizrachi also headlined the event, finishing with the 5th largest chip stack (10,150,000).

Mizrachi is sitting pretty with a decent chip-stack, but he is the only previous WSOP gold bracelet winner among these survivors, with 4 to his name so far. He will be favourite to come out on Day 3 and lift the title. The prize pool of $975,000 has kept aside $116,015 for the first-place player.

Balasubramanian owned about one third of the chips in play at one stage, with an overwhelming chip lead. He lost a few, but still has a massive lead over the rest, with 11 million being the next best chip stack after his stack of 18 million chips. Do you think he can win against Mizrachi?

Current chip counts:

  1. Srinivas Balasubramanian – 18,325,000
  2. Robert Cicchelli – 11,055,000
  3. Pete Arroyos – 10,550,000
  4. Tim Andrew – 10,425,000
  5. Michael Mizrachi – 10,150,000
  6. Kevin Nomberto – 7,700,000
  7. James Sievers – 5,450,000
  8. Sandeep Pulusani – 4,375,000
  9. Raymond Walton – 3,075,000
