Sriharsha Doddapaneni wins Big Millions 2.0 in Goa

Big Millions 2.0 was hosted by Adda52 and Sriharsha Doddapaneni outlasted a total of 987 entries to ship the tournament and walk away with INR 25.5 lakh.

Adda52 hosted the inaugural Big Millions tournament in March 2018, which began on their website and play was suspended when it reached the final table. The FT was to be played live on the Deltin Royale in Goa and the tournament was ultimately shipped by Kalyan Chakravarthy for INR 28,50,550.

A successful first tournament meant that Adda52 decided to host Big Millions 2.0 online, on 6th May 2018. Once again, the tournament followed the same structure and the last 8 survivors were flown down to Goa to play the final table. Here were the chip counts ahead of the final table:

  1. ‘Ivey2’ (Sriharsha Doddapaneni) – 41,60,978
  2. ‘degen88’ (Abhishek Kumar) – 23,68,340
  3. ‘zzzzz369’ (Myron Pereira) – 21,48,410
  4. ‘ronaldo94’ (Rishi Mundhra) – 21,47,196
  5. ‘newkidpoker’ (Manish Lakhotia) – 11,89,318
  6. ‘gameofdeath’ (Mihir Thakkar) – 11,05,372
  7. ‘spacecadet’ (Avinash Tauro) – 10,31,828
  8. ‘rohit22rm’ (Rohit Mishra) – 6,53,558

The final table kicked off at 2 pm IST on 15th May and the entire action was streamed live on the Adda52 LIVE Facebook page. The top two winners of the tournament received INR 25.5 lakh and INR 14.5 lakh respectively. Sriharsha came into the final table with the chip lead and he ensured he kept that lead and took down the Big Millions 2.0 title!

He has been on a great run in both live and online poker at the moment, including a career best live poker cash of INR 28,70,000 for shipping the INR 200k Super High Roller at last month’s DPT Colossus SHR series in Goa. He has now added another feather to his cap of poker accomplishments, pocketing this huge amount for first-place.

Sriharsha played Mihir Thakkar in heads up and with a huge chip lead, it took under an hour for a winner to be decided. In what became the final hand of the tournament, Sriharsha had pocked nines and Thakkar had A-9 when both players decided to go all-in pre-flop. The board opened 4-6-J-8-2, providing no further assistance to both players and Sriharsha’s pocket nines was good enough for him to take down the trophy.

Gutshot asked Sriharsha how he felt about shipping this massive tournament. “Feels amazing. My style of play on final table suits with having a big stack and really glad I made it count. Never lost the chip lead at any point and finished it quite comfortably in the end,” he said.

Speaking about the tournament structure, he said, “Structure is pretty good. I was the shortest stack when 27 left but the structure of the tournament allowed me to pick spots and still be in contention for the title. And of course the most interesting part of the tourney is that final table was played live. I felt it is very interesting and can attract recreationals more than any usual online MTT.”
