Sriharsha D leads 8 Indians from COLOSSUS 1B

A couple of days back, we spoke about Kunal Patni leading 3 Indians on Day 1A of the COLOSSUS, one of the most popular fixtures on the WSOP schedule each year. Patni was not just leading the Indian charge but was also among the top ten stacks overall on Day 1A.

Yesterday was Day 1B of the tournament and a much larger field of Indian players was a part of the action, with Sriharsha Doddapaneni progressing with the largest stack among Indian players. Doddapaneni is among the best poker players in the country at the moment and it’s no surprise to see him survive Day 1B with a massive stack of 652,000 chips.

However, he won’t be the only one progressing to Day 2 of COLOSSUS. Apart from 3 progressing from the first starting flight, 7 other Indians bagged along with Doddapaneni including Siddharth Karia (552,000), Shravan Chhabria (486,000), Vivek Rughani (417,000), Nishant Sharma (258,000), Atul Nagpal (195,000), Rohan Dhawan (155,000) and Aman Kejriwal (129,000).

Event #61: $400 COLOSSUS created a new record for this tournament across its two starting flights with 7,871 entries registering on 1B, taking the overall count to 13,109 entries. Romik Vartzar ended as chip leader on 1B with a stack of 2.17 million chips and 1,181 runners progressed from this flight, taking the total count of Day 2 to 1,951 players.

Day 1B top 10 chip stacks:

  1. Romik Vartzar – 2,170,000
  2. John Goyette – 1,453,000
  3. Hien Tran – 1,152,000
  4. Kyle Shaw – 1,130,000
  5. Ian Steinman – 1,127,000
  6. Julian Manolio – 1,095,000
  7. Robert Georato – 995,000
  8. Kulwant Singh – 991,000
  9. Daniel Dizenzo – 985,000
  10. Hannes Neurauter – 968,000

The money bubble has burst and when play resumes on Day 2, all of them will be in the money with a min-cash of $600. With a total of 11 Indian players in the field, we’re expecting some deep runs from our heroes and you can stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com for all updates on this tournament.
