Somashekhar KM in the lead after Day 1C of WPT Main Event


Three starting flights were scheduled for the 55k WPT India Main Event and after the first took place a couple of nights back, two more starting flights were played out yesterday including Day 1B and Day 1C. The second flight was the largest one with 256 entries and the final flight was held later last night, with 147 entries being accumulated and the total field going up to 630 entries!

This meant that the prize pool generated was INR 3,28,47,476 ($462,164) which was slightly higher than the INR 3.25 Crore guarantee. The top 79 players from this field will receive payouts, with the eventual winner taking home a hefty amount of INR 63,48,641. Across three flights, a total of 210 players will carry a stack to Day 2, which begins at 3pm today at Deltin Royale, Goa.

Day 1B chip leader Ujjwal Narwal took forward a stack of 347,500 while among the 64 players who progressed from Day 1C, it was Somashekhar KM who finished as the chip leader with 190,500 chips. Close behind him is one of India’s top pros Raghav Bansal who takes forward a stack of 181,500 chips.
