‘SlamDunk’ wins Big Daddy and trip to Goa on Spartan

The Big Daddy tournament on The Spartan Poker is one of their most popular offerings, with a lot to look forward to apart from just winning a tournament. In addition to the usual tournament winnings, the Big Daddy tournament winner also takes away an INR 30,000 package trip to play poker at the Big Daddy poker room in Goa, with the chance of multiply these winnings too.

Now this tournament takes place every Sunday on Spartan, with an afternoon start before the higher value tournaments kick off. Yesterday too, Big Daddy INR 5 Lakh GTD began at 4pm with a revised, slightly higher buy-in of INR 1,100 and a total field of 359 entries registering to the tournament.

From these, only 27 players were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 4,500 while the biggest cheque from the prize pool went to ‘SlamDunk’, who banked INR 1,10,000 plus a package trip to Goa which will include the player’s flight tickets, hotel stay as well as entry to the Big Daddy poker room.

The tournament was a relatively short one, ending by 8:51pm last night, with the tournament having reached blinds of 15,000/30,000 – 3,000 in Level #38. Heads-up saw SlamDunk competing against ‘AlwaysSmile’ and the latter faltered right at the end, taking away the runner-up prize of INR 74,500.

SlamDunk earned a chip lead of nearly 3:1 before we reached the final hand of the tournament, where the player’s pocket Fives prevailed. He was up against Jd Kd of AlwaysSmile and the 4d 8c As 8d Th on the board helped him out, being crowned champion for his Eights and Fives pairs. This player once before missed out on a major victory, finishing second to Ashish Ahuja in the Mega Freeze.
