Shravan Chhabria, Kartik Ved finish in top 30 at BIG 50

Yesterday, we spoke about how two Indians were in contention among the final 127 players in Event #3: BIG 50 – $500 NLHE at the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Both highly accomplished players in the Indian online as well as live circuit, it was time for Shravan Chhabria and Kartik Ved to make headlines in Las Vegas.

They returned on Day 4 of the tournament and continued playing some good poker. At the start of the day, Chhabria had around 11+ million chips which was just above the average stack while Ved had around 7+ million in chips. Both of them did well, eventually cashing big as Ved busted in 29th place and Chhabria ran deeper, hitting the rail in 18th place.

Ved and Tam Nguyen busted slightly before players could take a 20-minute break and after their exit, the final 3 tables were set. Ved bagged a healthy prize of $34,279 (~INR 23.73 Lakh) for finishing 29th, adding to his career winnings of $140k before today. This isn’t his biggest score of the year, also having made a deep run in the EPT Sochi Highroller for $47,668. Last year, he also had a 128th place finish in the WSOP Main Event for around $57k.

Chhabria too has cashes around the world, but this turned out to be his best performance in Las Vegas so far, busting in 18th place for a career-best live cash of $53,714 (~INR 37.2 Lakh). Chhabria shoved all-in with Ah Qc with 36 million chips and got a call from Morten Christensen who had Queens. The board ran out 9 2 9 T 5 which was of no help to Chhabria, who exited, but as a happy man.

Action continued on Day 4 with USA’s Walter Atwood taking the chip lead by the time the Final Table of 9 players was set. There are no past bracelet winners in the field so all of them will be aspiring to pick up their maiden WSOP win. This of course, comes along with $1,147,449 in hard cash!

Final Table chip counts:

  1. Walter Atwood – 292,000,000
  2. Rafi Elharar – 264,000,000
  3. Adrian Curry – 168,000,000
  4. Femi Fashakin – 166,000,000
  5. Morten Christensen – 134,500,000
  6. David Rasmussen – 125,000,000
  7. Daniel Ghobrial – 110,000,000
  8. Nicholas Chow – 72,000,000
  9. Paul Cullen – 70,000,000
