Shawn Buchanan Leads Final 8 in WSOP Event #20

The 2018 World Series of Poker kicked off a little over 10 days back and it has been exciting as always, with top pros showing why they are the best and quite a few new winners emerging as well. Earlier today, we reported news of Ognyan Dimov, Adam Friedman and Craig Varnell shipping Events #17, #18 and #19 respectively. Now, we bring to you an update of Event #20.

Event #20: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em

This 4-day event attracted a total field of 518 entries which created a prize pool of $2,408,700 and at the end of Day 3, we are down to the final 8 contenders. Today’s play saw Day 1 and Day 2 chip leaders getting eliminated and Canada’s Shawn Buchanan ending with the largest chip stack at the close of Day 3.

Buchanan has three runners up finishes in the WSOP but is still in search of a gold bracelet. Could this be his best chance to get one? He has the lead but will face tough competition with the likes of David PetersJake Schindler and others on the final table. The pro will be looking to add to his $6.7 million in live poker earnings, as they battle it out for the top prize of $537,710 tomorrow.

Current chip stacks:

  1. Shawn Buchanan – 2,580,000
  2. Jeremy Wien – 2,455,000
  3. David Peters – 1,925,000
  4. Eric Blair – 1,825,000

  6. John Amato – 1,005,000
  7. Jake Schindler – 880,000
  8. Richard Tuhrim – 625,000
