China’s Shaoshuai Li Ships Poker Dream 15 Malaysia ME

Poker Dream 15 Malaysia saw some fantastic poker action throughout its events. The main event has now concluded, and a new champion, China’s Shaoshuai Li, has been crowned. His name is etched in the poker books.

Li beat the competition to a whopping MYR 420,000 (~₹82 Lakh). The series had a GTD of MYR 4 Million, and the prize pool increased to MYR 4.2 Million by the time the game was set. The hand saw a strategic chop between Shaoshuai and Xu Hang, which had Hang take the bigger slice of the prize pool amount of MYR 731,200 (~₹1 Crore).

This is by far Li’s biggest cash-out. His previous highest cash was $20,769 in July 2024 at Event #2 of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Cambodia, which he shipped. According to Hendon Mob, it was the first time he saw cash at a live poker event. Therefore, this championship marks an important landmark in the young poker player’s professional career.

Shaoshuai Li is a poker player to watch. Last year, he consistently ranked in the top 10 in various poker tournaments, including third at Events #2 and #41 of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Cambodia, where he took home $5,656 and $4,578, respectively.

Poker Dream is one of the most prominent poker tournaments, fast gaining popularity among poker players on a global level because of the impressive prize pools, the ambience and the quality of skilled players that their events bring to the felts. Its 15th iteration concluded in Malaysia, and the brand has become one of the biggest.

The tournament has also been pretty important for the Indian poker scene, with several Indians participating at Poker Dream 13 in 2024 and ’15 in 2025. Last year, Nishant Sharma made history by winning the Main Event thrice, a rarity in the industry. With Poker Dream 16 already set or Jeju in February, poker fans and players should be set for more thrilling poker action, and it remains to be seen what records will be created then.
