Sergi Reixach takes home the trophy in EPT Barcelona €100k SHR

The European Poker Tour (EPT) €100,000 Super High Roller took place in Barcelona which ended on Monday. The tournament attracted 64 participants out of which Sergi Reixach, a Spanish poker player took the trophy of 2019. The prize was a gift to his own native country.

Sergi Reixach topped the field of and took the biggest share of the €6.2 million prize pool after knocking out the eight finalists. Day 1 of the SHR witnessed Reixach third in the chip lead, followed by 19th position at the end of Day 2, and the winner after all. Reixach bagged all the tournament chips after struggling for three hours with Sam Grafton in heads-up.

The game changed as Reixach made the call and Grafton showed a queen-high bluff but Reixach turned over top pair to end heads-up. Grafton started the hand with 18 blinds and tried hard to push the game forward. Nevertheless, Reixach’s game was a tough battle.

Interestingly, all 9 players returned on Day 3 to claim the first prize of €1,816,210 in Barcelona Casino. The chip leader, Tsugunari Toma was celebrating his birthday on the ultimate day of the tournament and will be reminiscing these memories.

This tournament of EPT Barcelona 2019 attracted numerous late entries and registration was open late until the start of Day 2. On the final day, each finalist was assured of €180,070. As the game advanced, only six players were remaining including Luc Greenwood being the shortest stack and eventually exiting the game. Among the final three players, about 90% chips were stuck between Grafton and Reixach along with Danny Tang who was eagerly trying his best. With 160 blinds between both these finalists, Tang was knocked out eventually.

Final Table Results:

  1. Sergi Reixach – €1,816,210 (~INR 14.41 Crore)
