Santhosh Suvarna in WSOP Bahamas 2024 Main Event Day 2

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Bahamas Triton Main Event is currently underway at the beautiful and breathtaking Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas. While other tournaments are taking place simultaneously, India’s Santhosh Suvarna is one of the players who has progressed to Day 2 of the Main Event.

It’s yet another high-stakes affair in this series, with a buy-in of $100,000 (~₹85 Lakh). Suvarna is no stranger to big buy-in tournaments; he even played the Triton Million a few days ago, which had a $500,000 (~₹4 Cr) buy-in. Here, he’s qualified from the first day of the event, and he will be hoping to make a deep run in this one.

Day 1 of the tournament saw a field of some of the best poker players in the world battle it out for a spot on Day 2. The day’s play was intense, with 149 entries boiling down to 80 survivors at the close of play and several players building up big stacks by then. New Zealand’s David Yan emerged as the chip leader at the end of the day with an impressive stack of 1,166,000 chips. Dimitar Danchev from Bulgaria finished the day in second place with 1,107,000 chips, and China’s Biao Ding rounded out the top three with slightly less than a million chips in play.

Suvarna did not make it into the top chip counts at the end of Day 1, but he will still be in contention for the title when Day 2 gets underway. He progressed with a stack of 211,000 chips, which is also below the average chip stack, but chipping up early on Day 2 may help him strengthen his position in the Main Event.

However, the remaining players will also be looking to build on their stacks and avoid busting out of the tournament, so Suvarna will have to bring his best game. The field will continue to shrink until only one player is left standing, who will be crowned the champion of the 2024 WSOP Bahamas Triton Main Event. Nick Schulman, Dylan Linde, Brian Kim, Darren Elias, Chance Kornuth, Alejandro Lococo, and Michael Addamo were some known names to bust during the day.
