The WSOP Paradise 2024 series is currently underway in The Bahamas, and it’s the perfect way to end the calendar year for high-stakes poker players. Among the Indian contingent, we didn’t have a massive turnout because the buy-ins are quite high and travelling to the Bahamas is way more expensive than it is to closer locations like Vietnam and Cambodia. Among the Indians participating in the Main Event was none other than Santhosh Suvarna, someone who has been pocketing big cashes all across the globe.
He’s got achievements at events like Triton Poker, to go with 2 WSOP bracelets in the last year or so. The high-stakes pro was in action in the $25,000 WSOP Super Main Event too, finishing as the second largest stack of Day 1C before going on to progress to Day 3 as well.
Though he had 3+ million in chips at the end of the third starting flight, Suvarna was met with stiff competition on Day 2, and saw a loss in his stack by the end of this day. The event had a total field of 1,978 entries, with 297 of them managing to survive the day and progress to Day 3; all players are in the money which means a prize is guaranteed for everyone now.

Suvarna wasn’t the only Indian playing in this field as Adesh Tiwari, Krishna Madhariwar, Sriharsha Doddapaneni, and Vinay Boob were also in the mix. Vinay B won an online package to Bahamas, while Sriharsha is a usual contender at such big events. However, all except Suvarna and Tiwari were busted during the day, all short of the prize bubble as well.
Suvarna ended the day with 1,530,000 in chips while Tiwari goes to Day 3 with 615,000 chips. All of them will walk away with a prize of a minimum of $50,000 for 297th place. 17-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth exited on the bubble of the $50 million GTD tournament but there are several highly-skilled professionals still in the mix.
Leading the chip counts is Gytis Lazauninkas with a stack of 15.4 million, while Matthew Belcher follows him with slightly over 11.6 million in chips. Leading female poker pro Liv Boeree is among the top 10 chip stacks with 8+ million in chips while other bracelet winners in the mix are David Peters, Adrian Mateos, Ole Schemion, Nick Schulman, and Daniel Negreanu.
Given all these big names in contention, it’s not going to be an easy Day 3 for our couple of Indian players at the WSOP Paradise 2024 Super Main Event. However, we’ll be backing them to go all the way and progress to Day 4 of the tournament too. Currently, the average chip stack is around 3.32 million, and getting there should be the first goal.
