Sahil Mahboobani wins Spartan Triple Bubble

Sahil Mahboobani has been playing phenomenal poker in the past few months. He is a well-known player to begin with, but these past months have seen him ship plenty of tournaments online and cash out in one of the highlights of the Indian poker scene this year – WPT India. He came 2^nd in the WPT India Main Event in Goa recently and took home a staggering INR 46,53,000 Lakhs.

Among his recent wins online was beating a field of 448 entries for the Godfather title, where he took home upwards of INR 5.4 Lakhs. He also came 1^st in last night’s INR 7.5 Lakhs GTD Triple Bubble on The Spartan Poker. With this win he is a force to be reckoned with and is looking to bring his skills into the next year as well.

Friday’s Triple Bubble is one of the featured tournaments on Spartan. The innovative aspect of this tournament is that the bubble boy gets his buy-in back, the Final Table bubble boy earns a ticket to The Millionaire and the runner-up of the event bags a ticket to The Millionaire as well as 2.o.K (2 of a Kind).

Last night’s Triple Bubble attracted 276 entries with 23 top places being paid for a minimum cash of INR 9,605. The buy-ins of INR 3,300 was chipped in by the entries to create a prize pool of INR 8,28,000, crossing the guaranteed amount. Mahboobani overcame this field to take home a good INR 1,92,510 as 1^st place cash prize. He beat the runner-up ‘IamTyler’ in heads-up, who took home INR 1,30,410 and the two tournament tickets. The Final Table bubble went to ‘lenscleaner’, who earned a ticket to The Millionaire along with the cash prize. The money bubble burst on Vaibhav Sharma aka ‘vaibhav1188’.

The final hand of the tournament had Mahboobani with a massive almost 10:1 lead, and his opponent had little room left to do a comeback. Pre-flop saw IamTyler going all-in and a call followed. The board of 5c Ks 5h Jh Kd went in Mahboobani’s favour, who made two pairs of Aces and Kings with his Ad As against IamTyler’s Qd Ts.

This win is a welcome amount for Mahboobani, who has won so many tournaments in the past. With Christmas just around the corner, there is a lot in store for poker enthusiasts across the country and Mahboobani will be looking forward to playing and winning those as well.
