Sahil Agarwal and Ankush Aryan win Spartan’s 2OK

The Two of a Kind (2.o.K) is among the most unique tournaments offered by various reputed platforms in the Indian poker scene. It is The Spartan Poker’s speciality to host some staggering guarantee events and this year is touted to be an extremely high value affair with India Online Poker Championship (IOPC), India’s biggest online series, is set to make a return for another edition this month.

Coming back to the 2.o.K, it’s a tournament which awards INR 15 Lakhs GTD each to top two winners and is usually hosted on the first Sunday of every month. The tournament always attracts a strong field consisting of many high-level pros and young learners alike who want to increase their bankrolls. They all gather to sign up for this tournament from across the country, some playing places where there’s hardly a working internet connection.

Yesterday’s 2.o.K attracted a huge field of 1,156 entries (including 193 re-entries and 411 re-buys) and created the awesome prize pool of INR 63,58,000 for a buy-in of INR 5,500. Last night’s 2.o.K field was a hundred more than the previous 2.o.K being hosted, suggesting an increasing popularity of this unique Spartan event.

The tournament began at 6 pm yesterday evening and after a tough grind of almost 12 hours, at 5.54 am today morning, the two champions to emerge were well-known industry players– Sahil Agarwal aka ‘Nasheyy’ and Ankush Aryan aka ‘invinciblewolf’.  Agarwal ended with a bigger stack, but this tournament doesn’t differentiate between the top two winners, so, they both won the same amount of INR 15,89,500 as their well-deserved cash prizes.

Agarwal busted ‘ksn’ in 3-way play, with his Jacks holding up against ksn’s Threes in a pre-flop all-in. The third place finisher missed the second spot by a hair-length. However, ksn also won a good amount of INR 6,99,380 for his 3rd place finish.

Both the winners, Agarwal and Aryan, have plenty of online cashes in the past and have shipped a few along the way too. Agarwal was the winner of two same SSS events back in August 2018 on Spartan, where he won a High Roller and the Big Daddy. He is also a respectable live player and finished 2nd in APPT Manila HR event in early August 2018.

Aryan won an iPhone XS in Spartan’s SSS-XS edition in October last year. In another SSS series in June last year, Aryan won the first event itself, as well as ranking 2nd in the last event of the day. Both winners have great achievements in the past and will be looking to multiply these winnings by leaps in the upcoming line-up of high value events on Spartan and other platforms.

We contacted Aryan after his win and he said, “Last couple of weeks were good for me with few deep finishes. While I came 2nd in Daredevil this Saturday, last week I managed to chop the same tourney heads up. Also, I shipped Daily Hi-Fi and Daily Double last week. I took a break from poker for quite some time now and I guess that’s working out for me.

Talking about his gameplay he added, “I had a massive chip lead in the Final Table with more than a third of the stack and the lead continued till 3-way. However, I lost couple of big hands and I was down to 20 big blinds once in 3-way. After that I started playing aggressively and other 2 guys were concerned about pay jump, I guess. For me it’s the thrill of the game and not pay jumps!! I don’t mind busting in bubble as well.

Yesterday’s Sunday on Spartan attracted a lot of regulars, and the top 85 paid positions in 2.o.K also saw quite a lot of them. Some of the regs include Ankur Agarwal aka ‘FLOPZILA’ (10th – INR 63,580), previous Destiny winner Prabhat Saini aka ‘RaamJaane’ (12th – INR 44,506), Shravan Chhabria aka ‘D.Trump04’ (13th – INR 44,506), Aditya Sushant aka ‘SuperuSer’ (20th – INR 25,432) and Pranav Bang aka ‘CalvinKlein’ (26th – INR 19,074).

Akshay Nasa aka ‘sherlock52’ also ranked in the money yesterday at 33rd for INR 15,895. Others included Ratul Steves aka ‘Atriohm’ (38th – INR 15,895), Spartan Ace Abhishek Jalan aka ‘Abhishekj’ (39th – INR 15,895), Ankit Wadhawan aka ‘d00mtr00p3r’ (41st – INR 12,716), Vidwath Shetty aka ‘RoronoA’ (50th – INR 12,716), Siddharth Karia aka ‘schemer77’ (63rd – INR 10,172) and Jayjit Ray aka ‘David Blaine’ (66th – INR 10,172).
