Sagar Patnaik among top stacks on Day 1A of WSOPE Opener


The most awaited 2019 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) kicked off yesterday at King’s Casino in Rozvadov with the first tournament. Besides, the various on-going festivals running worldwide, WSOPE observed numerous poker pros on Day 1A of the Event #1: €350 Opener No-Limit Hold’em.

The prestigious event attracted a total of 399 players from various nations, each entering for a buy-in of €350. As the tournament progressed, only 84 players bagged their chips to lead on to Day 2. Claiming the day and bagging the largest stack was Ukraine’s Renat Bohdanov with 525,000 chips.

The event was lit with notable players, including Dutchman Bartel Kars with 374,000 chips, six WSOPC rings winner Roland Isrealashvili bagging 332,000 chips, Rafi Elharar with 255,500 chips, 2015 Montesino Recurring Tournament champion Adi Rajkovic with 194,500 chips, PLO winner this summer Ismael Bojang with 164,000 chips and so on.

India is witnessing some of the greatest tournaments and action this month, including the on-going Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) and World Poker Tour (WPT) India (15-21 October). Indian players are never far behind to attain a WSOPE bracelet. Yesterday saw the sole Indian contender Sagar Patnaik bagging 224,000 chips.

Day 1A top 10 chip counts:

  1. Renat Bohdanov – 525,000
  2. Bartel Kars – 374,500
  3. Roland Israelashvili – 332,000
  4. Maximilian Eberhardt – 314,500 
  5. Samuel Mika – 312,000
  6. Rafi Elharar – 255,500
  7. Sagar Patnaik     – 224,000
  8. Jozsef Liszkovics – 223,500
  9. Petru Proca – 211,000
  10. Alex Kukuk – 207,000

The initial day recorded a massive number of poker fanatics including 113 re-entries, and the number is expected to increase with several more days to come.
