Robert Peacock wins first WSOP gold bracelet

The double stack event was making its debut at the World Series of Poker and the eventual winner would go down into the record books as the first winner of this event. After 4 days of grinding, it was down to the last three survivors in Robert Peacock, Nicholas Salimbene and Joshua Turner, with Peacock holding a huge chip lead.

The high-stakes cash game pro had a little more than $60k in live poker tournament winnings before this tournament, and no title either. However, things were about to change for the American as he marched out on that unscheduled Day 5 and wrapped up proceedings quickly, in front of a packed rail that was chanting and popping champagne bottles.

Winning Event #34: $1,000 Double Stack, Peacock registered his first ever live tournament win and his maiden WSOP bracelet, also taking home an added bankroll of $644,224 for first place, making this a victory he won’t forget anytime soon. He busted his first bullet early on Day 1a and was only 12 Big Blinds coming into Day 2. From there, it was all upward for Peacock.

The event drew a massive 5,700 entries and you need some talent to top such a huge field. “I’ll play a few tournaments here and there, but I still prefer cash,” said Peacock, showing that he still intends to play more of cash games than tournaments. It’ll be interesting to see if he makes any more deep runs in WSOP 2018.
