Riot Games announces League of Legends: Wild Rift Origin Series

Riot Games recently announced an international tournament for its mobile game League of Legends: Wild Rift. The tournament titled ‘League of Legends: Wild Rift Origin Series,’ will be the first official tournament hosted by Riot Games on a global level. Teams from Europe, Middle East and North Africa(MENA) and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) can participate and win a prize pool of €3,00,000 

The Wild Rift version of the renowned game gained a lot of popularity among the mobile gaming audiences. Riot Games plans on tapping into the mobile esports ecosystem by launching this tournament. Icon Series, the first Wild Rift tournament was held a few months ago in the Southeast Asian (SEA) region. However, the League of Legends: Wild Rift Origin Series will be the first international event.

This tournament will have a format which will follow double elimination best-of-three matches in the initial qualifier stages. During the tournament, eight groups will be made and the best two teams from each of the groups will proceed to the monthly finals. There will be a double-eliminator format to ensure a higher number of matches for each team. Accordingly, the monthly finals will see 16 teams from eight groups. 

At the end of the monthly finals, the teams will receive a prize money according to the placement. However, each team will compete for the long-term goal. The placement or standings in the monthly final will decide the teams for the offline finals. This will also be the first Wild Rift tournament to host an offline finale. 

Players from more than 50 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Turkey and CIS region can participate in the tournament. So far, only details of the first monthly qualifier starting June 5 have been disclosed. After that, multiple monthly qualifiers will follow. 

Follow the steps below to participate:

1. Visit the registration page.
2. Login or Register and fill the form to create a team.
3. Invite teammates and ask them to register. Teammates can join the team via an invitation code that will be sent. 
4. After successful registration, you will be enlisted in the tournament.
