The inaugural PokerStars Festival Manila drew a large number of Indian players who took part in a number and brought home a few titles in the side events. Even now an Indian leads the final table in the Main Event and should he prevail, that will make it India’s third in this series. Taking place at the City of Dreams within the PokerStars Live poker room, this series started on 28 July with 56 tournaments kicked off by the ?16,500 PokerStars Open ($4 million guarantee). The series will end with the culmination of the ongoing $55,000 Main Event which carries a massive ?20 million guaranteed prizepool.

A large Indian contingent descended upon this event many of them having flown in directly from Macau where they were participating in the Macau Billionaire Poker room’s Hope Cup. These included Adda52 pro Kunal Patni, PokerMet pro Dhaval Mudgal, Akash Shekhar, Viren Kapur, Keshav Chadha, Kanishka Samant, Abhineet Jain and Arjun Dhingra.

At the time of publishing this report, the $55,000 Main Event is down to its final table with nine players left. Leading them all is Indian player Uday Bansal with 6,400,000 chips. Following him is Michael Falcon with 5,000,000 chips. Several Indian players who participated in this Main Event made it to the money including Kuldeep Pawar at 71st place for $100,000, Kunal Patni at 59th place for $100,000, Pranay Kapoor at 37th place for $130,000, TheSpartanPoker’s Rajeev Kanjani finished his run in 27th place for $170,000 whilst compatriots Siddarth Singhvi (26th for $170,000) and Vikram Kumar (21st place for $195,000) fell just outside the final two tables in the event. Bansal is poised to take it down with his very healthy chipstack but he has stiff competition in Filipino pro Mike Takayama and four-time APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi also gunning for the title.
