Prashanth Sekar, Ankit Kapoor shine in Rozvadov

The Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic has grown to be a very popular poker location for players from around the world. Indian players have also frequented this casino because it isn’t overly expensive to travel and live here. Of late, we’ve had a few Indian successes in Rozvadov too, both very known names in the Indian poker industry.

The casino hosts daily tournaments and one of them is the Thursday Night Turbo which, as the name suggests, is hosted every Thursday night with a buy-in of €115. Last night, a total field of 91 entries including 15 re-entries registered to the tournament, with the top 11 of them eventually getting paid out a minimum of €238.

Our Indian pro Prashanth Sekar was among players of different nationalities at Kings Casino and he made India proud by winning the Thursday Night Turbo title. He beat Russia’s Anton Pivovarov in heads-up which saw Sekar take down the title and €2,611 (~INR 2.06 Lakh) in prize money.

Winning tournaments is nothing new for Sekar as he was the winner of the inaugural GameChanger on PokerBaazi too, which was India’s first ever INR 2 Crore GTD tournament. There, he emerged as the official winner after a 4-way deal on the FT, making him one of India’s biggest online winners till date.

Another major tournament series taking place at Kings Casino at the moment is the partypoker LIVE GPC festival (German Pokerclub Championship) which has a €500,000 GTD Main Event which also kicked off yesterday. We saw a total of 140 entries including 28 re-entries registering to the tournament on Day 1A, with 19 of them bagging their chips to Day 2.

Among them was India’s Tanveer Kohli who is the shortest stacked survivor with 295,000 chips. However, the chip leader is also an Indian player, Ankit Kapoor. He takes a massive stack of 1,915,000 forward to Day 2 and will fancy his chances once he continues after the starting flights are done.

Remember, Kapoor is no newbie in live poker either, having won the DPT Main Event in Goa earlier this year. For all updates on his progress in this tournament, stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com.
