Pranav Anand takes down Spartan’s multi-day Battlefield

Spartan Poker launched a new offering called Battlefield INR 1 Crore GTD where, as the name suggests, it was truly a battlefield as the top names in online battled it out over the course of 4 days before the major prizes were distributed. It was an innovative multi-day tournament where players were allowed to take multiple stacks into Day 2 of the tournament, which was played a couple of nights back.

Over the course of 4 starting flights, hundreds of players got together, and each paid the INR 5,500 buy-in, but at the end of 25 levels each day, only a few would progress. A total of 120 surviving stacks went to Day 2 yesterday which included 106 unique players and after one bust-out, the prizes began as the top 119 places were paid out a minimum of INR 22,500.

Among the several who busted during the day were Siddhant Kapoor (118th), Siddarth Singhvi (111th), Zarvan Tumboli (107th), Sahil Mahboobani (101st), Sajal Gupta (90th), Gaurav Sood (88th), Ashish Munot (73rd), Kanishka Samant (72nd), Mahboobani again (70th), Eka Vedantham (61st), Abhinav Iyer (60th), Goonjan Mall (59th), Nishant Sharma (51st), Pulkit Goyal (38th), Ashish Ahuja (28th), Munot again (23rd), Sahil Agarwal (12th, Singhvi again (11th), Vinod Megalmani (9th), Arsh Grover (8th), Arjanveer Chadha (4th), and Day 1A chip leader Siddharth Karia (3rd).

The final day began at 4pm last night and it took a little less than 6 hours to wind up by 9:53pm. ‘bubble’ was one player who managed to end with 3 stacks in the money while heads-up began between ‘nothing123’ and Pranav Anand aka ‘mithrandir16’, both of whom were guaranteed massive cash prizes from this prize pool.

However, neither of them wanted to miss out had they finished second so once they reached a point where both were more-or-less similar in chip counts, they decided to cut a deal which saw Anand having the lead and taking away the bigger cash prize of INR 15,23,522, along with the title. nothing123 preferred to stay anonymous and this player has won a few high-value tournaments in the past as well. Here, he/she finished 2nd for INR 15,06,477.

It was a fantastic night in poker for Pranav Anand as he also took down the BSS SuperStack title on PokerBaazi for another major top-prize of INR 4.87 Lakh. For all updates on similar high-value tournaments and other major poker stories from across the globe, keep following GutshotMagazine.com.
