PokerStars to Bring Back EPT, LAPT & APPT in 2018

In 2016, during the European Poker Tour Barcelona, PokerStars announced that they will be completely re-branding their live tournament schedule, with all regional tournaments to fall under ‘PokerStars Championship’ and ‘PokerStars Festival’. This meant that world famous tours like EPT (European Poker Tour) and a few other tours were discarded from the PokerStars schedule.

This decision was clearly a highly disliked one among poker players and their disappointment was evident. However, during this year’s PokerStars Championship Prague, Daniel Negreanu took to the floor at the Main Event to make a massive announcement.

He announced that the scrapped European Poker Tour will be making its eagerly awaited return in 2018. Along with the EPT, other popular poker tours like Latin America Poker Tour (LAPT) and Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) will also be back with a full schedule of live events for 2018.

Before the re-branding, PokerStars had once said that they “wanted to take our vision for live poker to a whole new level.” Many top poker players will be happy seeing these tours making a comeback, especially the EPT, being one of the most beloved brands in poker. While the EPT ran for 13 successful seasons, the APPT and LAPT ran for 10 and 9 seasons respectively.

There were many other smaller, regional tours that ran along with the EPT, LAPT & APPT, and we are unsure whether these tours will be making a comeback or not. For now, all smaller tours will continue to run under the PokerStars Festival and PokerStars Championship brands.

What do you think? Are you happy or sad to see these tours make a comeback? Leave a comment to let us know what you feel.
