According to a report by pokerfuse, over the last seven days GGPoker has hosted more cash game players on its tables. For the first time since 2006 PokerStars has seen a dip in its numbers. Reports from GameIntel stated that since 2006 GGPoker had an average of 5006 concurrent cash game players but PokerStars had 4981.
Daniel Negreanu, the global ambassador for GGPoker reportedly told the media that GGPoker hit the top for cash game traffic and that was the result of the hard work by a lot of people and also a testament to the amazing community of players who call GGPoker home.
The poker pro also stated that GGpoker has reached the number one spot only because of constant improvisation of games and promotions. News reports state that GGPoker overtaking PokerStars in the race does not come as a surprise to its followers. PokerStars has been competing with its rival GGPoker for years and GGPoker taking the numero uno spot in 2021 was indeed a prediction bound to come true.
Further reports stated that the last time an operator was close to the record of PokerStars was in 2010-2011, when Full Tilt was of a size comparable before it collapsed on Black Friday.
GGPoker first landed on the radar when Natural8, one of its skins, began to move into the European markets. It then launched its own poker rooms – GGPoker.com and GGpoker.co.uk. Its traffic was not tracked back then for four and a half years.
The cash games of GGPoker are growing. And even if it fails to level out, it will be due to its user base playing many tournaments – like the Battle Royale SNG game that was recently launched.
GGPoker stated that its site also has a summer of WSOP tie-in tournaments coming up. The operator will be giving out Las Vegas satellite packages to the World Series from August. There will be online bracelet events that will take place on GGPoker.com for international players.
According to a report by pokerfuse, PokerStars has aimed at providing less incentives to high volume players for some time now and has improved the experience of its customers but declining traffic was certainly not part of the plan. Flutter, the new owners recently signed a multi-year investment deal with a promise to make significant changes in the investments into the brand in order to address the problems of underinvestment.
