Online poker giant PokerStars has collaborated with live-streaming platform Twitch to reach out to a wider range of audiences. The update would clearly add an incredible rise in the number of players, allowing them to link their PokerStars account with Twitch directly on the online poker software. It has been confirmed that US sites will be included in the new feature and it will roll out globally quite soon.
Expanding the partnership and strengthening the network, the news came last month, confirming the plan to incorporate Twitch on the PokerStars’ platform. Back in 2013, Twitch had 45 million unique viewers and in 2015, more than 1.5 million broadcasters and 100 million viewers every month. Owing to its rapid growth, the new technology would definitely ensure progress and an improvement in the overall experience, also allowing players to become eligible for bonuses, including ‘special promotions, items, and rewards’.
Not everyone streaming their games on PokerStars is a subscriber to Twitch’s channel. These players now have the chance to link their accounts which comes with a two-fold benefit. The PokerStars Twitch channel is useful for engaging players and this would effectively provide advertising for the site as well.
PokerStars had officially launched its Twitch channel in 2015 and ever since then, online poker has progressed effectively. Back in March, PokerStars India launched its own Twitch channel and live streaming sessions generating content by its brand ambassadors Aditya Agarwal and Muskan Sethi. The site also signed Sharad Rao as its first dedicated live streaming ambassador back in June.
Head of Poker Communities and Engagement Scott Goodall added “Platforms like Twitch take player engagement to another level, so we’ve been very focused on nurturing that community from the beginning and pioneering efforts there. Connecting PokerStars accounts with Twitch accounts means our players can identify themselves as Twitch users, and we can, in turn, offer them special promotions, items, and rewards.”
The step would ensure the visibility of poker and its presence on the world’s largest streaming platform and that would increasingly improve the likelihood of the non-poker fanatics also taking notice. On the launch of the new feature, PokerStars will be offering 2 Platinum passes that include a €22,500 entry to the 2020 PokerStars Players NLH Championship (PSPC). Winners of the Twitch promo would additionally receive $1,000 in their PokerStars account.
