PokerStars India launches 1.6+ CR GTD Winter Series

PokerStars is a brand that’s well established all over the world. The website, owned by The Stars Group (TSG), is the largest online poker site in the world. They also conduct a hoard of live poker tours and high-stakes tournaments all over the world and are currently hosting the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Prague. They have their fot in the Indian online gaming market too, with PokerStars.in.

PokerStars.in hosts a variety of tournaments already, some of them being the Spin and Go, Daily Bigs, Hot Turbos, etc. Just recently, they launched a Multi-Table Tournament (MTT) Leaderboard of INR 5 Lakhs GTD starting with the month of December. They also ran an exciting series called the Diwali Rush, on their platform, which was their maiden series.

Rafi Ashkenazi, CEO of TSG had commented earlier, “You can refer to India currently as a soft launch where we’ll increase focus on this market probably starting in Q4” and it seems with the introduction of their new series called The PokerStars Winer Series, the focus is on India. The Winter Series has a total guaranteed prize pool of over INR 1.6 Crores, and will run from December 16-24, an 9-day gala of featuring 37 tournaments. Each day of the series will witness a high-stakes tournament along with other reasonable buy-in events, to suit every player’s pocket sizes.

The feature tournaments of the series are –

1. Dec 16 – Sunday Special PKO Special Edition – INR 20L GTD
2. Dec 17 – Battle Royale – INR 5L GTD
3. Dec 18 – Sixth Sense – INR 7.5L GTD
4. Dec 19 – Night on Stars – INR 6L GTD
5. Dec 20 – High Roller – INR 15L GTD
6. Dec 21 – The Classic Progressive KO – INR 5L GTD
7. Dec 22 – Monster Stack Special Edition – INR 7L GTD
8. Dec 23 – Main Event – INR 35L GTD
9. Dec 23 – EPT Sochi ME Qualifier – INR 4L GTD

The Main Event, the gem of the series, will be a high-stakes extravaganza of INR 35 Lakhs in guaranteed prize pool with a buy-in of INR 7,700. The event will begin on Dec 23 at 7 pm sharp.

There is also the EPT Sochi Main Event Qualifier on Dec 23, along with the Main Event, which will begin on 8 pm with a buy-in of INR 2,750. The winner of this event will be treated to the EPT Sochi package worth INR 4 Lakhs, which includes Main Event entry, seven night’s accommodation for two at 5-star Sochi Marriott and INR 40K in travel expenses. The series at Sochi will be EPT’s first stop of 2019, scheduled between March 20-29.

In addition to this, there is over INR 19 Lakhs in added value via a variety of special promotions such as freeroll satellites, etc. The Winter Series tickets will be awarded in daily freerolls during the period of the Winter Series. There is also the Main Event deposit offer where if a player makes a deposit of INR 30K or above using ‘WINTER’ code, he will get a Main Event ticket for free. Alternatively, players who deposit INR 1.5K or more using ‘FREEROLL’ code will get an exclusive ticket to the Main Event Depositors Freeroll which will take place on Dec22 at 8:30 pm. Second Chance Freeroll and Wrap-Up Freeroll (INR 7.5 Lakhs) will also feature later, giving players another chance at bagging a ticket.
