WSOP 2019: Juha Helppi, Brandon Adams win maiden bracelets

Event #72: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship

It has been 15+ years that Finnish pro Juha Helppi has been playing poker, so much that he’s considered as a poker legend in Finland, second to only Patrik Antonius on the Finland all-time list with $7+ million in live cashes. However, there was one thing missing on his poker CV and that was a WSOP gold bracelet, something he achieved only a few days back in Las Vegas.

He played Event #72 and aced the NLHE Championship, beating 118 entries including several past bracelet winners to the title, which earned him $306,622 in prize money but more importantly, that prized gold bracelet. The final day lasted more than 13 hours and eventually ended when Helppi beat Mike Lancaster in heads-up.

“I’ve been close to winning a bracelet many times, that’s why it was so exciting because it happened to me many times in the past. Finally getting that bracelet that I’ve been looking for, like for 16 years, it’s amazing,” said an elated Helppi after winning this tournament.

Final Table Results:

  1. Juha Helppi – $306,622
  2. Mike Lancaster – $189,505
  3. Tommy Hang – $133,718
  4. Anthony Marsico – $96,272
  5. Kevin Song – $70,750
  6. Josh Arieh – $53,095
  7. Kyle Ray – $40,709
  8. Qinghai Pan – $31,902
  9. Robert Como – $25,566

Event #74: $3,200 WSOP.com ONLINE No-Limit Hold’em High Roller

Here’s another player who has close to $4 million in live cashes and a number of titles across USA over the years, the most recent one being a Poker Masters title late last year, while also shipping the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown prior to that. However, this recent win was the sweetest of them all.

Adams plays as ‘DrOctagon’ on WSOP.com and he won this HR bracelet, which was one of 9 online bracelets scheduled to be given away at WSOP 2019. It took over 12 hours of grinding to find a champion which ended up being Adams, who beat a field of 434 entries to win $411,560 in prize money.

  3. Vladimir ‘Stuey_Haxton’ Alexandrov – $173,241
