Rubin Labroo is crowned 2020 India Poker Champion!

It was over 3 years ago that the last India Poker Champion was crowned in our country. What began with small fields is today a massive affair and the latest edition of the India Poker Championship (IPC) was no less grand or glamourous, attracting several different segments of society, along with a number of celebrities too.

The IPC Main Event got a total field of 693 entries over 2 starting flights and when they were done with Day 1A and 1B, 130 progressed to Day 2, where there was more than just money to play for. There was also the INR 20 Lakh Spartan Poker sponsorship package and the Panerai MS Dhoni limited edition watch to go with the IPC trophy.

Rubin Labroo was sporting the Spartan Poker hoodie all the way through the tournament and it proved to be a lucky charm for him as he ran through the field, keeping his final table lead all the way till the end. He wins the massive INR 45.34 Lakh prize money plus a whopping INR 20 Lakh sponsorship package from Spartan Poker and the Panerai watch which is worth over INR 6.5 Lakh!

“It’s amazing! I’ve been trophy-hunting for a while now. My last trophy was in April 2017, in the DPT. So, it was long back. And I came second in the WPT Vietnam Kick Off. And I’ve final tabled here and there, but nothing converted,” said the 31-year old after winning this prestigious IPC title.

Labroo entered heads-up against Siddharth Mundada, with a 4:1 lead and he ended up taking it down for INR 45.34 Lakh, though the prizes were decided in a 4-way deal on the FT. Special mention for Mundada who has been fabulous himself, winning the 10k Freezeout in September 2019, finishing runner-up in the same tournament a few days back and now ending runner-up in the 50k Main Event for a whopping INR 37.7 Lakh payout.

Final Table Results:

  1. Rubin Labroo – INR 45,34,922 (deal)
  2. Siddharth Mundada – INR 37,72,112 (deal)
