If you believe in miracles then you are not wasting your time. We know of a poker player who bounced back from having just a couple of big blinds to ultimately shipping a coveted title. Yes, we are talking about Ivan Hon Cheong Lee from Hong Kong.

This poker player was down to his last few big blinds and was playing very cautiously and won two all-ins back to back (one against Punnat Punsri with a better full house). He battled a tough field and locked a heads-up session with Thailand’s All Time Money List topper Punsri and went on to grab the prestigious Super High Roller title for a sum of TWD 3,125,200. Thai player finished runner-up for a payday of TWD 19,40,000.

He also took the runner-up spot at the High Roller Megastack event at USOP Taiwan 2024. Lee’s third cash turned out to be a title win for a sum of TWD 3,125,200 (~$100,300). This payout is the biggest payout given to a title winner in the event so far.

This event paid the top 16 places and the total entries recorded were 101. The final prize pool stood at TWD 10,776,700 (~$346,456). 

USOP Taiwan SHR: Eliminations 5th To 3rd

Players were getting knocked out from the final table. The players who took the fifth spot was  Meng Ling Lin for a sum of TWD 538,800. When only five players were left in the game, Ivan Lee had around 9 big blinds. This player from Hong Kong wanted to chip up and get back his lost stack. God heard Lee and gave him Fishhooks to play with against Lin. From the small blind position Lin played with 10 2 .

Lin ran into Lee’s pocket Jacks and finished 5th place as the board did not favour him in any way. 4th place went to Matthew Belcher from United Kingdom. He was shown the door by Lee and Thailand’s Punsri wiped out Samuel Wilkinson from the SHR race in 3rd place.

The much awaited final table of the USOP Taiwan 2024 SHR is set with nine players in contention for the ultimate title and trophy. United Kingdom’s Matthew Belcher is the chip lead with a stack of 4,400,000. Taiwan’s Meng Ling Lin has the second highest stack of 3,600,000. Check out the seat draw below.

The highly anticipated USOP Taiwan 2024 SHR event saw its late registration conclude at the start of Level 13. The tournament had 101 total entries at the end of Day 1. Day 2 saw the survivors return for the ultimate Super High Roller battle. The day now has 41 players in contention with the final prize pool touching TWD 10,776,700. The first place finisher will get a pay cheque of TWD 3,125,200. The average stack in play is 492,682. It remains interesting to see which player grabs the chip lead as final table inches closer with each passing minute.

The Super High Roller Day 1 kicked off amid high energy at Asia Poker Arena, Taipei. This one is a marquee event from the USOP Taiwan 2024 series. Players are flooding the registration desk while many have taken their seats at the tables. The tournament is expected to have a competitive field and see the final prize pool crush the advertised guarantee of TWD 2,500,000.

Welcome to Gutshot Magazine’s live coverage of the U Series of Poker (USOP) Taiwan 2024 Super High Roller (SHR) event held at Asia Poker Arena, Taipei. This marquee event comes with a TWD 2,500,000 guarantee and a buy-in of TWD 120,000. The starting stack at this event is 200,000 chips with levels lasting for 40 minutes each. The event will kick off at 4 PM local time on 10th January while Day 2 will resume at 2 PM local time on the following day (11th January). 

The event is a 10-handed one with Day 1 ending after the completion of 10 levels, while players can enter the SHR tournament before the start of Level 13 on Day 2. This tournament will have the shot clock and big blind ante in play and the final table will be live streamed by USOP.
