IOPC Day 4: Ranjeet Negi Emerges As Biggest Winner Of The Night With 9,74,034 In Prize Money


It was Day 4 of India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) July 2021 and the action was quite intense. The big winners from yesterday were Aditya Singh, Ashit Sharma, Ranjeet Negi, IPC 2020 Main Event winner Rubin Labroo and IOPC commentator Goonjan Mall.

These players are well-known online regs but is that all? There’s more action and drama that went down. Let’s do a quick recap of all the action that went down yesterday.

IOPC #19 – Monsterstack – ₹3.50 Lakh GTD

The first tournament of Day 4 was the ₹3.50 Lakh Monsterstack tournament. The virtual felts were crowded as there were a total of 973 entries. The initial guarantee was surpassed as the final guarantee stood at ₹5,83,800. Aditya Singh aka ‘konstantinn’ struck a deal with anonymous player ‘Greko. ‘ Singh cashed ₹97,948 in prize money while ‘Greko’ took home ₹83,438. The top 87 players in this ₹660 buy-in event were paid a min-cash of ₹1,809. 

One the 54th level, Singh had double the chips as compared to the runner up ‘Greko.’ The hole cards were dealt as Q♦ 4♥ and 8♠ J♠ for Singh and ‘Greko’ respectively. In the pre flop round itself, the anonymous player folded while Singh uncalled the bet.

IOPC #20 – ₹5 Lakh GTD

The IOPC #20 was a ₹1,650 buy-in event. The top 39 players in this tournament were paid a min-cash of ₹4,895. With 473 total entries, the tournament was shipped by Ashit Sharma aka ‘D.Carwin.1.’ Sharma made it big in this event and took home ₹1,42,245 in prize money. The runner up in this event was Abhijeet Kumar aka ‘ThesupremeOne’ who received a pay cheque of ₹94,576. 

The advertised guarantee of ₹5 Lakh was surpassed and the final prize pool stood at ₹7,09,500.   

On level 49 of the tournament, Ashit Sharma was leading with a chip stack of 3:1 ratio as compared to Abhijeet Kumar. The hole cards were dealt as K♠ K♣ and 8♣ 8♦ to Kumar and Sharma respectively.

In the pre flop round, Kumar called the bet while Sharma raised. Both of them placed their bets in the flop while during the turn, they went all in. The river card was revealed and the board was as follows: 7♣ 5♦ T♠ 9♥ 6♥. Kumar had a pair KK, while Sharma claimed the pot with a T-6 straight.

IOPC #21 – ₹3.95 Lakh

This tourney was won by a player who goes by the moniker ‘Dan.Smith.’ This player traversed to the top after battling 783 entries. The winner took home ₹1,06,057 in prize money. The top 63 players in this ₹770 buy-in tournament were paid a min-cash of ₹2,384.

On level 51st in the IOPC #21 tournament, the anonymous player ‘Dan.Smith’ was leading with a 5:1 chip ratio as compared to ‘magnum376.’ In the preflop round, ‘magnum736’ raised and went all in, while ‘Dan.Smith’ called the bet.

The hole cards were dealt as A♥ K♦ and 6♣ A♦ to ‘Dan.Smith’ and ‘magnum736’ respectively. ‘magnum736’ raised and went all-in during the pre flop round. During showdown, the community cards were revealed as 6♦ 6♠ K♠ 7♥ 9♣. ‘Dan.Smith’ over took ‘magnum73 with a three of a kind and took the pot home.  

The advertised guarantee of this tournament was surpassed and a new prize pool stood at ₹5,48,100.

IOPC #22 – Wednesday Prime – ₹45 Lakh GTD

This Wednesday Prime tournament offered a whopping ₹45 Lakh guarantee. The initial guarantee was crushed and a new prize pool of ₹51,05,000 was formed. This event had 1,021 entries in total and Ranjeet Negi aka ‘Rj147’ shipped this tournament. Negi took home ₹ 9,74,034 in prize money from this ₹5,500 buy-in event.

Siddhanth Kripalani aka ‘PluRibu$’ who was the runner up in this tournament. Kripalani cashed ₹6,10,369 in prize money. Players who made it in the money in this tournament were Ghanshyam Tripathi (6th, ₹2,30,179), Sanish Chhabra (7th, ₹1,48,045), Surbhit Grover (9th, ₹80,148), Ratul Steves (13th, ₹54,061), Shardul Parthasarathi (18th, ₹38,746), Siddarth Singhvi fired three bullets (26th, ₹28,843), Ankit Wadhawan (35th, ₹22,206), Kunal Patni (51st, ₹19, 143), Manish Lakhotia (54th, ₹19,143), Arsh Grover (56th, ₹17,101), Guneet Kwatra (65th, ₹17,101) among others. 

The top 95 players in this Wednesday Prime tournament were paid a min-cash of ₹15,059.

IOPC #23 – Wednesday Spotlight – ₹12 Lakh GTD

This tournament had 1,127 entries which was the highest number of entries received for any tournament on Day 4. The initial guarantee of ₹12 Lakh was impressively crushed and the final prize pool stood at ₹16,90,500. This ₹1,650 buy-in event was shipped by India Poker Champion 2020 Main Event winner Rubin Labroo aka ‘imightwin.’ Labroo had a pay day of ₹3,20,180.

Notable players who made it in the money in this tournament were Anirban Das (17th, ₹14,369), Sanket Arora (31st, ₹7,100), IOPC 2021 Main Event winner Laksh Pal Singh (32nd, ₹7,100), Ashutosh Balodhi with two bullets (35th, ₹7,100), Siddarth Singhvi (55th, ₹6,254), Final Table Series 2.0 Main Event winner Siddharth Karia (56th, ₹5,409), Vivek Singh with two bullets (59th, ₹5,409), Armaan Kochhar (60th, ₹5,409), Rohan Bhasin with two bullets (77th, ₹4,902), Ankit Wadhawan (78th, ₹4,902), Kunal Patni (84th, ₹4,902), Naresh Veeravalli (87th, ₹4,902), Ghanshyam Tripathi (93rd, ₹4,902), Gokul Raj (98th, ₹4,564) among others.

The bubble boy in this tournament was poker pro Shardul Parthasarathi who busted at 104th position. 

Players who followed the bubble boy and did not make it in the money were Dhirendra Kumar (107th), Sahil Mahboobani (110th), Nitin Arora (125th), Aniket Waghmare (128th), Myron Pereira with two bullets (133rd), Sanish Chhabra (143rd), Manish Lakhotia (149th) among others.

IOPC #24 – All Rounder – ₹10 Lakh GTD

The last tournament that took place yesterday was the All Rounder ₹10 Lakh event which was nailed by Goonjan Mall—a poker all rounder. This poker pro and IOPC July 2021 commentator received a pay cheque of ₹2,21,165. The 2,200 buy-in tournament had 693 entries in total. The top 55 players were paid a min-cash of ₹6,791. The tournament had an advertised guarantee of ₹10 Lakh but it was crushed and a bigger prize pool of ₹13,86,000 was formed.
