The 2018 Aussie Millions began on 17th January and will go on till 5th February 2018. The popular tournament series saw yet another big winner a couple of days back, with Ben Lamb winning Event #9 – the $25,000 Challenge and taking away the top prize of AUD 647,114 (~INR 3.3 crore).
The festivities take place at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, which is the largest casino in the Southern Hemisphere. After shipping Event #9, Ben Lamb confessed that it was his first time at the Aussie Millions, even though he already had over $8 million in live poker winnings.
Coming to the 2018 Aussie Millions sure turned out to be the right decision for Lamb and here’s what he had to say about this win – “This year I decided to only go for a week. All my friends (Chance Kornuth and Sam Panzica among them) were coming to the Aussie Millions. I’ve had a blast.”
The American has been around the live poker circuit for over a decade and also has a career best live cash of $4,021,138. A two-time WSOP Main Event finalist, Lamb secured this career best result at the 2011 WSOP final, for finishing in 3rd place. Of course, big wins are not new to him!
Lamb reached heads up with German pro Jan-Eric Schwippert who has over $4 million in live poker earnings and the two of them dominated play in this event, making it no big surprise that they reached heads up. The two quickly agreed to an ICM deal. In the final hand, Lamb’s Q-J beat Schwippert’s 10-4 and Lamb was crowned champion of the $25,000 Challenge.
