Alex Lindop leads in APT Vietnam Super High Rollers

The prestigious Asian Poker Tour (APT) brand has inaugurated its first stop for 2019 in Vietnam, hosting the 2019 APT Vietnam Kickoff which started yesterday with two events. Monster Stack 1, the first event of the series, attracted 174 entries and local pro Tran Kim Dong is the chip leader.

Along with that, the Event #2 Super High Rollers saw its Day 1 yesterday with 24 players running for the title. The total number came to 28 entries after four re-entries that happened subsequently. The buy-in of VND 107,500,000 (~INR 3.29 Lakhs) was individually coughed up to create a VND 2,716,000,000 (~INR 83.21 Lakhs) prize pool.

After 12 rounds of 40 minutes each, the event concluded Day 1 yesterday almost running till midnight. A total of 13 players have progressed and will compete again today for the trophy and cash prizes. Some of the known players to qualify were Linh Tran (1,241,000 chips), Alan King Lun Lau (418,000 chips), 2018 APT Finale Manila Super High Rollers champion Phachara Wongwichit (309,000) and the chip leader UK’s pro Alex Lindop with 2,533,000 chips.

Lindop is a known player and has plenty of live cashes in his career. He has played all over the world, from Las Vegas in US to Barcelona in Europe. He has even played in the Eastern hemisphere of the globe. He finished 9th in APPT National High Roller Macau in March last year for $27,802. His best live cash though, comes from his bracelet winning finish at the 2015 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $1,500 NLHE. He earned a staggering $531,037 in this event, a significant win indeed.

Lindop sits with a comfortable lead over the second in chip lead Ji Xia Qing (1,584,000) and would come as no surprise if he lifts the trophy today, for the 1st place cash prize of VND 1,160,333,000 (~INR 35.51 Lakhs). This will be such a major appreciation in his bankroll that will help enable him to sign up for the exciting line-up of tournaments in 2019.

The online gambling giant Dafabet is also on board the APT wagon and has sponsored an event in the series too! They will also award the top three winners of the Main Event in the series with the tickets for the upcoming 2019 APT Tokyo Japan’s Main Event.

The APT Vietnam Kickoff is expected to attract a sizeable Indian turnout and the Main Event will definitely draw top talent from across the region. Stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com for upcoming APT Vietnam Kickoff event results as well as for your daily dose of poker news from around the world.
