A
a-game
Poker is a mind-sport and takes a considerable amount of mental and physical preparation to sit through long hours of gameplay. For big tournaments and events, players -need to be in the best shape (mind and body) to perform well. To achieve this, poker players train and study their game for hours. The term ‘A-Game’ is used when a player performs at the highest level possible.
What is ‘A-Game’ in poker?
In a game of poker, a player needs to be focused, has to use every piece of information to his/her advantage, study opponents, and make wise decisions. This is how a player brings his/her ‘A-game’ to the poker table. However, it is not only about playing to the best of your capabilities but also about feeling your best. Poker players who bring their A-game to the table are the ones who are making all the right moves.
Owing to the long hours of gameplay and mental energy required to perform well, it can become difficult for players to maintain a high level of performance as pressure builds on. Just like any other sport, poker players need to train hard to maintain consistency in their performance. This means putting your best foot forward, till the very end. It is because of this that players nail mega titles in World Series of Poker (WSOP), India Online Poker Championship (IOPC), etc.
It is also possible that poker players who bring their ‘A-game’ to the table end up losing. This happens as not all aspects of the game are under a player’s control. Building your mental agility and taking care of your body is important if you want to bring your ‘A-game’ to the poker felts.

B
backdoor-flush
As poker is a game of many different moves and strategies, brushing up on your poker knowledge on simple things such as poker terms can be helpful. Every move or hand in poker has a given name and it can be interesting to see what each stands for and how one can use it to play on the table. The poker term ‘Backdoor-Flush’ is one such term. So let’s take a look at what it stands for.
What does ‘Backdoor-Flush’ mean in poker?
To put it straightforwardly, a ‘backdoor-flush’ in poker means a flush that is completed using both the turn and the river card. Here a player will have three cards of the same suit and need two more cards of the same suit to appear in the turn and the river if they want to complete the flush. This usually happens when playing poker variants like Hold’em or Omaha. For example, if a player has cards K ♠️9 ♠️ and the flop opens with one spade card in it, this means the player needs spades in the turn and the river in order to get a backdoor flush.
Another similar term called the backdoor-flush draw, refers to when you’re waiting for two consecutive cards on the turn and river to complete your flush. It also has a different name called ‘Runner-Runner.’
How to play if you have a ‘Backdoor-Flush’?
When you get a backdoor-flush draw, you will have to bet more, especially if you have a lead over your opponent. You can use the backdoor flush draw as bluffs and collect a big pot from it when played right. However, when trying to play a backdoor flush be careful not to go overboard with your bet sizing.
