Phil Hellmuth joins WPT as analyst

World Poker Tour announced the addition of Phil Hellmuth to the WPT Talent team. Hellmuth, a 14-time world champion and one of the world’s most recognizable and respected poker players, has joined the WPT to become the new WPT Raw Deal analyst.

Hellmuth fills the opening that became available when Tony Dunst, former WPT Raw Deal analyst, was elevated to the WPT commentary booth alongside Vince Van Patten. With an attitude personified by his nickname, “The Poker Brat,” and backed by a legendary record of accomplishments, Hellmuth brings the perfect blend of bold opinion, confidence, and experience to the WPT Raw Deal.

“I am honored to join the World Poker Tour as the new WPT Raw Deal analyst,” said Phil Hellmuth. “Becoming a part of the World Poker Tour family has been a career dream of mine, and I’d like to thank Adam Pliska, CEO of the World Poker Tour, for providing me this exciting opportunity. Backed by my decades of poker experience, I look forward to offering no-holds-barred commentary and analysis as host of the WPT Raw Deal.”

“It is the World Poker Tour’s great pleasure to welcome Phil Hellmuth as our new WPT Raw Deal analyst,” said Adam Pliska, CEO of the World Poker Tour. “It takes a unique ability to be the WPT Raw Deal analyst, and the World Poker Tour is confident that it has found the perfect successor to Tony Dunst in Phil Hellmuth. Phil’s insightful poker analysis comes with the right amount of edginess, and his poker résumé speaks for itself, exemplifying all the WPT looks for in its Raw Deal analyst.”

Phil Hellmuth’s career spans three decades, boasting nearly 300 live tournament cashes and more than $21 million in live tournament earnings. On the World Poker Tour, Hellmuth has cashed 13 times and reached four official WPT final tables. His career World Poker Tour earnings amount to more than $1.1 million.

As host of the WPT Raw Deal segment, Phil Hellmuth will offer commentary and analysis on select hands during WPT broadcasts, starting with the televised Season XVI WPT Choctaw tournament.
