Paawan Bansal leads 14 into Day 3 of DPT Main Event

It has been two years since Paawan Bansal last cashed in a live poker tournament in India, having made plenty of big cashes in Las Vegas over the last couple of years. However, he’s back with a bang and is all set to cash big here in Goa, leading the final 14 into Day 3 of the Main Event at the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) on board the luxurious Deltin Royale.

An impressive field of 448 entries meant that the prize pool of the INR 35k DPT Main Event reached INR 1.5 Crore and plenty of big prizes are waiting to be won when the final 14 players return tomorrow. 152 contenders started the day and by the end of it, it was Paawan Bansal who ended as chip leader, taking a hefty stack of 22,65,000 chips into Day 3.

Bansal has over $600k in live cashes across the world and is in the top ten all-time list of India, with his runner-up finish in The Closer in WSOP 2018 being the second largest cash by an Indian ever. Close behind Bansal is Ankur Sehgal who has been the most consistent at DPT events, with two consecutive 5th place finishes in the DPT Main Event. By the looks of it, he’s set to finish on another Final Table.

56 places were to be paid with a min-cash of INR 58,700 and 42 of them received pay-checks today itself. Some of the notables included Abhishek Goindi (16th for INR 1,75,000), Raman Gujral (20th for INR 1,45,000), Apoorva Goel (32nd for INR 85,000), Vivek Rughani (35th for INR 85,000), Eka Vedantham (51st for INR 64,000), and Kunal Patni (55th for INR 58,700).
