Adelaide Strikers co-players Ben Laughlin and Jake Weatherald have been the talk of January for the cricket world after their remarkable co-operation helped get Dwayne Bravo out in the Big Bash League.
Melbourne Renegades batsman Bravo, a West Indies international, must have thought he had hit a wonderful sixer when he smashed a leg-spinner thrown by Rashid Khan towards extra cover in the 16th over.
But somehow Laughlin, running backward, jumped to seize the ball and, as he was going to go over the boundary rope, he threw it to Weatherald for him to make an amazing catch.
The removal sparked bizarre celebrations from Jason Gillespie’s Strikers and was addressed as one of the best catches ever by the commentators.
Astonishingly, this is not the first time two players from a Gillespie side have teamed up to take a sensational catch after Aaron Finch and Adam Lyth did it two times in a matter of weeks for Yorkshire in 2014.
