Nodwin Gaming’s Akshat Rathee Wants A Clear Distinction For The Gaming Industry

In a news report by IGN India, it states that Akshat Rathee, co-founder, Nodwin Gaming has called for a clear cut distinction for the gaming industry. Previously it was reported how the operators in the gambling industry had urged the government to categorize them under esports and gaming. Nodwin Gaming also runs ESL India operations front. Furthermore, Indian gaming giant Nazara owns Nodwin Gaming and has operations in emerging markets across 60 countries like Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia and Latin America.

As per the news reports by IGN India, the gaming operator Nazara has invested INR 300 crore over the last five years in Indian gaming. According to the latest news report, Rathee in an interview with AFK Gaming stated, “Across the globe real money gaming (RMG) businesses crop up, the platforms make money and somehow the government classify it as gambling,” Rathee also added that, “The bigger companies chose to either fight back or the brands just obtain gambling licenses in order to continue its operations. When this happens, the government will collect tax and license revenue. The companies generate profits and gambling in a responsible manner becomes an overarching theme.” The news reports also state that due to a lack of clear distinction between gaming and gambling, the former is suffering and falls under the radar when it comes to bans by the authorities.

Previously, it was reported that in October, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy requested Union Minister RS Prasad to block around 132 websites in the state. Further, IGN India has reportedly accessed the letter which was sent by the Andhra Pradesh government to its IT minister which consisted of the likes of Electronic Arts in its list.
