Nodwin Gaming gets INR 164 Crore in funding from PUBG developer Krafton

Nodwin Gaming, an esports platform raised INR 164 Crore from the developer of PUBG Mobile, Krafton. The company also has the intellectual property rights for other games such as TERA, Golf King, Castle Burn among others. Nodwin is an independent subsidiary of Nazara Technologies and it has partnerships with publishers across the world.

Post this deal, Nazara will still own more than 50 per cent stake in Nodwin Gaming. Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and Managing Director of Nodwin Gaming said, “Krafton coming on board with us is like an endorsement from the Mecca of Gaming and esports. This is an example of what India is building for the world, based on mobile first markets.”

Manish Agarwal, CEO of Nazara Technologies said, “Nazara has been an early believer of the potential that esports has and how it can disrupt the sports entertainment market as a whole. We believe the partnership between Nazara group and Krafton will surely help in the growth of esports and open avenues for bigger and better opportunities between Korean and Indian gaming companies in the future.”

Rajan Navani, MD said that the investment is being looked at as an endeavour that has a huge potential for esports and is in the journey of making an ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat.’

This is the third round of investment taking place in Nodwin. Previously, the brand had raised funds from Nazara Technologies, backed by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and from JetSynthesys Private limited. Nodwin Gaming plans to use the funds invested to develop and push esports forward in South Asia, Africa and Middle East. The proceeds will also be used to provide better infrastructure, technology and conceptualised gaming at the national and international level.
