No Poker at Hard Rock Atlantic City

The Trump Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk was home to one of the most iconic poker rooms in the world, when the casino ran between 1990 and 2016. The property was recently purchased by Hard Rock and while reconstruction work has been taking place since months, they received their casino license earlier this month.

The new hotel called Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will be home to 2,000 slot machines, 120 table games and the iconic Hard Rock Cafe, but poker will not be a part of the gaming within this casino. The casino has set its opening date for 28th June 2018, along with the Ocean Resort Casino (formerly known as Revel), which will feature poker games.

The former Trump Taj Mahal has 48 poker tables, was home to United States Poker Championship that ran until 2010, and their poker room was held in high regard by many, also having featured in the 1998 film ‘Rounders’, starring Matt Damon and Edward Norton. If you had plans of taking a big bankroll to the Hard Rock Casino and win big in poker, you might have to slightly change those plans.

Earlier in May 2018, New Jersey implemented online poker player-pools sharing with the states of Nevada and Delaware in order to help the game grow. Hopefully, the poker room in the Ocean Resort Casino will help provide a boost to the struggling poker market in Atlantic City.

However, just because there will be no traditional poker games played at the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be a dream destination for gamblers from across the country and maybe even from other countries.
