Nestle Partners With Malaysian Esports League

According to a report by Esports Insider, KitKat Chunky, the chocolate brand from Nestle’s hood, is the main sponsor for Malaysia’s 2021 University e-League competition. Reports stated that KitKat Chunky will be launching a campaign to promote breaks during gaming sessions.

Reports state that the nationwide University e-League will feature universities and colleges in Malaysia. Esports Insider reported that the University e-League competition will consist of two stages — ‘The Qualifiers’ and ‘The Grand Finals.’ Both the stages of the competition will be held between July 9-August 15.

The esports event will reportedly have institutions participating and competing across titles such as DOTA 2, League of Legends: Wild Rift and Mobile Legends. The University e-League has a total prize pool of $4860.27. Reports state that the registration for the event is underway.

According to news reports, it has been stated that the sponsorship is KitKat’s first deal into Malaysian esports. Earlier in June, the brand extended its partnership with the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), which had 12 European Regional Leagues. Other campaigns include KitKat’s partnership with Vodafone Giants, a Spanish esports organization and also CBLOL, a Brazilian League of Legends competition.

Tiffany Tan, the Consumer Marketing Manager of the Confectionary Business Unit at Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad reportedly told the media that being a part of a world that was continuously progressing and evolving was a challenge to recognize the importance of taking well deserved moments of break. She added, “KitKat Chunky acknowledges the challenges that young Malaysian gamers go through; not just in-game, but also life as a gamer in general.”

Adrian Gaffor, the Head of Business Development of University e-League reportedly told the media that University e-League was thrilled to have KitKat Chunky as its Official Power Up Partner. He stated that in alignment with the vision and mission of University e-League, it was absolutely delightful to join hands with the brand on a journey to empower young gamers; and create meaningful opportunities for students and esports enthusiasts in Malaysia.
