Negreanu Adopts New Style Of Poker, Analyzes His WSOP 2015 Hand In New Series

Six-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu recently started a new series on YouTube called  ‘Old School vs New School Poker Analysis’. The new series was launched three weeks back and sees the poker pro analyse the poker hands at major poker tournaments from the past in an old school vs new school perspective.

In the first episode of the series, the GGPoker ambassador, analyzed the High Stakes Poker $400K pot Negreanu played against Gus Hansen almost a decade ago. After analyzing a tournament game in his first episode, Negreanu switched to a cash game for the second episode last week. During the second episode, the poker pro analyzed his game against Mike Matusow at the 2005 WSOP Tournament of Champions. The game had  $1 million on the line for the winner with three players remaining.

For the third episode this week the pro was again seen analyzing a tournament hand against Joe McKeehen at the WSOP 2015 Main Event. In the episode he explained what approach he would have used now, given a chance to go back in time.

During the Old School vs New School series the player is seen reviewing poker hands from two different angles, which he has used during his successful poker career. Many believe Negreanu to be an old school player, however, he started incorporating modern techniques in his game. That may be one of the reasons Negreanu started the series.

Old school vs New school approaches can be many things. But in the series Negreanu shares his thoughts on the old school and the new school approach. He explained what the two approaches mean to him. “Take no chances. I don’t need to run no bluffs, small ball poker, just have it, nickel-and-dime, nickel-and-dime, and just get away. A new school approach of focusing more on game theory and solvers, ” he says. The new series highlights the dramatic differences between the two approaches.
